SET motivates youth table tennis talents towards Youth Olympics 2018

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), has continued to provide sponsorship to The Table Tennis Association of Thailand (TTAT) for the fourth year of the"SET Star Junior Table Tennis" project, having gained overwhelming success in holding world ranking record, aiming to intensively groom the top-flight athletes to compete in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games.

Over the past three years, this project has enhanced skills of more than 150 coaches nationwide, while cultivating over 96 Thai youths to enter the national team. Among these, 10 players have won international tournaments while two rising stars have been placed in the World Top 50 Ranking.

SET President Kesara Manchusree said, "Promoting sports is one of SET's social activities with expectation to enhance physical and mental health among Thai youth. During the past three years of SET's joint-cooperation with The TTAT, we have groomed many young table tennis rising stars aged 12-18 all over the country for the national, regional and global league. In addition, SET also promotes table tennis as a key sport for physical fitness and synergyamong staff and capital market professionals by organizing the SET Table Tennis Championship to win Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's Cup, for the fourth year. Part of the fund raised also goes to the Thai Para table tennis team".

TTAT President Piradej Pruttipruk said, "SET's support has been instrumental in the development progress of Thai table tennis, while encouraging youth to utilize their free time productively. Last year, in particular, Yanapong Panagitgun won first place in the under 15 boys team groups, and the third place in the under 15 boys' singles group in the global league. Recently, two of our champs are ranked in the under 18 world top 50, namely JinnipaSawettabut ranking 22nd and Yanapong Panagitgun ranking 35th, will go to the Youth Olympic Games 2018.
