Artists and designers in the field of basketry invited to join the Cross Cultural Crafts competition under "Revival of the Forgotten Heritage" from now until May 23, 2018

The Support Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand (Public Organization) or SACICT has continued its Cross Cultural Crafts project for the fourth year under the concept of "Revival of the Forgotten Heritage."

The project seeks to restore forgotten wisdom and artistic heritage to preserve invaluable arts and crafts in the region. It involves educational activities and exchange of knowledge between the networks of regional craft masters and heirs of artists and handicraft creators. These extraordinary human resources are highly skilled and specialized in their fields, so together they form a major force in developing unique and contemporary styles of works.

In 2018, SACICT's emphasis is on integrated operations of the network of organizations supporting and developing arts and crafts in Asia. The focus will be on basketry, the flagship project of the year in 2018 that highlights collaboration with Taiwan and the Philippines. Through this cooperation, the local wisdoms and development of basketry are cherished and preserved. Moreover, the new generation of creators will be able to develop products with added value that can well attract the international markets.

With the above reasons and objectives, we'd like to invite craft masters in communities and basketry designers in the region to submit their entries for the competition from now on until May 23, 2018. Interested persons can download application forms at http://sacict.or.th/scripts/news_s … and send them online to [email protected], or by post to The Support Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand (Public Organization) or SACICT 59 Moo 4, Tambon Chang Yai, Bangsai, Ayutthaya province 13290. (Please put a note "Cross Cultural Crafts 2018" on the envelop)
