The Embassy of Japan in Bangkok has presented the "Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon" to Mr. PlewTrivisvavet, Chairman of the Executive Board at CH. Karnchang Public Company Limited, at a ceremony held at the Embassy of Japan. The award bestowed on Plew was in recognition of his contributions to cultivate and strengthen the relationship between Japan and Thailand.

"We wish to congratulate Mr. Plew on this occasion, as he is the first Thai in a private sector to be conferred with the "Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon" said Shiro Sadoshima, the ambassador of Embassy of Japan. "The conferment is in recognition of his distinguished achievements in promotion of Japanese culture and advancements in the Thai construction industry," he continued.

Mr. Plew won Monbusho Scholarship (now Monbukagakusho) from the Japanese government to study electrical engineering at Osaka University in Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree levels. Upon his graduation, he returned to Thailand promptly and began working at his family's company, CH. Karnchang. In the process of turning his small family business into a well-respected publicly listed company, Plew said that he had successfully applied what he had learned in Japan.

In numerous roles that Plew had, he had been promoting closer cultural, social and economic ties with Japan. His initial contribution bridging this relationship closer was through CH.Karnchang's joint venture with a leading Japanese company, Tokyu Construction. This allowed unforeseen opportunities from both parties and enabled them to learn and share construction engineering expertise and knowledge, which had been instrumental to the modernization of the company's construction business. Plew then went on to establish business partnerships with other leading Japanese companies over the years. CH. Karnchang had also been involved in many volunteer activities, such as donating funds supporting the Japanese government's earthquake relief efforts in 2011 after the devastation caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Under his leadership, Plew has turned CH. Karnchang from a minor construction company into a leading developer, investor and concessionaire of Thailand's infrastructure and extremely large-scale megaprojects. Because of CH. Karnchang's high capacity to handle all kinds of construction projects in proximity of Thailand and nearby regions, the company has branched out into other related businesses as well. These include transportation, as well as energy and water supplying. While recognized as an expert in construction, CH. Karnchang is renowned additionally for the commitment to good corporate governance and care for the environment.

Plew has been widely respected for his professionalism, vision, dedication and passion for the improvement of qualities of life that could be achieved through high quality construction and infrastructure projects.

"It is my highest honor to receive this royal decoration from Japan, being the first Thai businessman to receive this honor," Plew said. "When I was studying in Japan, I saw a country with commitment to advancement and development with a strong perserverance. And the people and culture of utmost discipline and the senses of duties. These qualities of Japan and Japanese have inspired my business philosophy and become an important basis for my success and my company's achievements today. As for my small part, I hope to play a role in continuing and strengthening the partnership between Thailand and Japan for the mutual benefits of our country," he concluded.
