The Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES), along with RSA(R) Conference and CYBERTECH Global Events, the world's leading cybersecurity event organisers, is hosting Thailand Cybersecurity 2019, an international exhibition and conference, under the concept Cybersecurity Digital Transformation. The event's core mission is to empower critical organisations to stay ahead of growing cyber threats while strengthening collaboration between the public and private sectors to support Thailand's digital transformation. The event welcomes everyone who is interested in digital innovations and cybersecurity. They can visit hundreds of exhibition booths and update the newest trends at the seminars led by cybersecurity and digital experts from Thailand and worldwide. The event also offers business matching which serves as a platform where entrepreneurs can meet and form collaboration to strengthen their businesses. "Thailand Cybersecurity 2019" takes place from 19-20 June, 2019, 10 am – 6 pm, Vibhavadee Ballroom, Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok.

Dr.Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Digital Economy and Society presided over Thailand Cybersecurity 2019. He said MDES follows Thai government's vision to lay a solid foundation toward Thailand 4.0 through digital transformation encompassing Security, Infrastructure, Government, Manpower and Applications or so-called SIGMA. Each element has its own mission. Cybersecurity focuses on data protection belonging to both public and private sectors. Digital Infrastructure emphasizes on improving society which include the projects on Pracharat Internet, underwater cable, and smart city. Digital Government focuses on strategic planning to facilitate business's operation and to create a faster access to public services. Digital Manpower aims to train and maximize workforces' capabilities in order for them to be able to help drive Thailand 4.0. Digital Applications focuses on creating mediums to facilitate every industry in Thailand, both for established companies and start-ups.

However, it is undeniable that Cybersecurity is the most vital element and is the foundation supporting other elements enabling them to run smoothly. The world is now facing growing cyber threats. According to European Parliament's statistic, it shows that 92% of malware infections are from email and web-based attacks. CMS attack is also increasing. Web application and injection attack such as SQL injections is among the most frequent threats to data security. 90% of malwares are also distributed through Phishing which 72% show it is also a main cause of data breaches. There is also significant growing trend in DDoS attack which is a malicious attempt to disrupt normal traffic of a targeted server, service or network by overwhelming the target or its surrounding infrastructure with a flood of Internet traffic. While in Thailand, ThaiCERT reveals that in 2018, there were 2,520 cyberthreat incidents. Top 3 most common types of cyber threats in Thailand are Intrusion Attempts, Fraud, and Intrusions respectively.

"Cyber threat is a problem that we all need to be concerned about. MDES's core mission is to suggest, regulate and promote the national policy and plan on digital development for economic and society. We work together with ETDA with its main mission to promote online transaction and e-commerce and regulate e-commerce providers. In the future, two new agencies will be set up which are National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) and the Data Protection Agency (DPA). All of us are well aware of cyber threat and are constantly working to promote and build up trust and confidence in using digital technology, online transaction and e-commerce. Creating cybersecurity is not one's own duty but every sector must take part and move forward to drive Thailand into the "digital economy" which is secured and in line with international standard," said Dr.Pichet.

Surangkana Wayuparb, ETDA President and CEO said ETDA's vision is to promote online transactions and e-commerce and oversee electronic transaction providers. Thailand Cybersecurity 2019 is the series of events starting from Thailand Cybersecurity Week 2017 which was later developed to Big Change to Big Chance held in 2018 to mark ETDA's eight anniversary. One of the event main highlights is the showcase of ETDA's cybersecurity operation and accomplishments to help encourage organisations and individual to realize the importance of cybersecurity as it has a profound impact on Thailand's digital economy and nearly every aspect of their lives.
