Turkish Airlines was recently awarded Programme of the Year (Europe and Africa) for its Miles&Smiles frequent flier program and Shop & Miles loyalty credit card (Europe and Africa) at the 2012 Freddie Awards.

Turkish Airlines Chief Executive Officer, Dr Temel Kotil, PhD said; “To be honored by the Freddie Awards, which recognises the best frequent travel programs in the world, makes all of our hard work worthwhile and shows our dedication and effort.”

Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles has been winning smiles from members since its launch in 2000. Members appreciate minimum mileage on short-haul flights, a well-rounded award chart with the help of fellow Star Alliance members, and a four-tiered elite programme that offers a family membership to help boost your mileage balance toward your next award.

The “Freddie” Awards are organised annually and recognised as the world’s top airline and hotel loyalty programmes. More than one million votes were tabulated for this year’s awards. The Freddie Awards are the latest additions to the stream of awards Turkish Airlines has received, including being named “Europe’s Best Airline” in 2011 by Skytrax. Skytrax also honored Turkish Airlines with several other prestigious awards including “Best Premium Economy Seats” for its Comfort Class seats and “Best Airline Southern Europe.” Turkish Airlines was also given the Skytrax designation of “World’s Best Economy Class On-board Catering” in 2010, and Skyscanner’s “Best On-board Food 2011”.
