The Winter at Cotai Strip Photo Competition is accepting photo submissions for only a few more days, with this year’s competition open to visitors in addition to local Macao residents. Those wishing to enter should submit their photos by Sunday, Dec. 29 at participating photo shop outlets or via mail (for overseas entrants) for a chance to win the top prize of MOP 10,000 cash.
Entries of original photos (8”x10” to 8”x12” prints, without frames, B&W or colour) must be submitted between Dec. 15 and Dec. 29, 20131 to qualify, with each contestant permitted to submit a maximum of 10 raw files without edits or software manipulation of any kind. Entrants for the Macao Residents Category may submit works along with a completed entry form2 to any of the participating local photo shops: Digital Hang Seng, FotoFantastic, Foto Chi Pak, Foto New Asia, or Foto Time Laser Print. A total of 56 winning entries will be selected, with the winners’ names appearing Jan. 15, 2014 in major Macao newspapers, and on the website of Cotai Strip Resorts Macao (http://en.cotaistrip.com/photo-competition). The winning photos will be displayed at the Winter at Cotai Strip Photo Exhibition, opening to the public Jan. 25, 2014 at The Venetian Macao.
The top photo will earn its photographer a trophy and MOP 10,000 cash; two first runners-up will receive a trophy and MOP 6,000 cash each, and three second runners-up will each be awarded with a trophy and MOP 3,000 in cash. A total of 50 Award of Merit winners will each also receive a certificate and a MOP 800 food and beverage coupon.
Winter at Cotai Strip boasts extensive holiday festivities and attractive offerings throughout Cotai Strip Resorts Macao. The signature extravaganza, supported by the Macau Government Tourist Office, features the magnificent 3-D light and sound spectacular “Seasons of Wonder” at The Venetian Macao’s outdoor lagoon area, giving holiday makers and locals a wonderful opportunity to rediscover magic and wonder at this majestic winter wonderland. Visitors will find themselves surrounded by charming stringed lights while enjoying non-stop music and live entertainment, seasonal treats, artificial snow and skating on an authentic ice rink next to a brightly lit 50-foot-high outdoor Christmas tree. A live ice carving demonstration by a talented Harbin ice carver is one of the many highlighted events of Winter at Cotai Strip this festive season. In addition, popular DreamWorks Animation characters such as Shrek, Po from “Kung Fu Panda,” and Alex the lion from “Madagascar” can be seen live at Sands® Cotai Central, and their stunning ice sculptures can also be found at the Ice World with the DreamWorks Gang exhibition. Visitors are invited to enjoy the festival and capture some memorable holiday shots to enter in the photo competition.
