Bangkok--20 Apr--SET
Thailand Futures Exchange PCL (TFEX) asked brokers to confirm their readiness for the April 28 market inauguration with TFEX by April 20. Brokers who need an extension should still proceed with their preparation, as they will be able join the market later.
TFEX Managing Director, Ms. Kesara Manchusree, disclosed that TFEX instructed member companies intending to commence trading on Friday April 28 to send confirmation to TFEX by Thursday April 20.
“TFEX would like to see all members joining us on this important day. However, we’re aware that there are some brokers having difficulty completing their preparation. Meanwhile, many of them have notified us that they would like to commence trading, as they are prepared for this, and there is considerable demand from customers. Therefore TFEX kindly asks brokers wishing to start their operations to confirm this with us, so that we can arrange for the starting date of their membership,” Ms. Kesara said.
TFEX members who do not confirm by April 20 can still continue their preparation even after trading has commenced. In these cases, TFEX will adjust the starting date for their membership.
TFEX, the clearing house and TFEX members are awaiting notification from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to allow all parties to begin operating. Any additional documents from brokers concerning their electronic and work systems must be submitted to SEC for approval by the end of this week, to enable SEC to notify all relevant parties by the following week.
