Ocean Marina Yacht Club shakes the world of sailing sports in Thailand and teams up with partners “Blue Wave/Yacht Pro and Wayu Sailing Boat School” to open training facilities for children and adult sailing enthusiasts
Ocean Marina Yacht Club aims to penetrate the sailing market to become a regional and international centre, and plans to attract new customers from its Ocean Portofino and O2Hib real estate developments.
Mrs. Nusara (Assakul) Banyatpiyaphod, President of Ocean Property Co., Ltd., and Executive Director of Ocean Marina Yacht Club Pattaya, Thailand’s exclusive world-class marina and the largest in Asia, disclosed that the company aims to promote the Ocean Marina Yacht Club as an international sailing centre due to its unmatched ability to dock a great number of small boats and big yachts. The club’s superb facilities include a sports complex, large swimming pool, tennis court and club house. Its ideal location on Sukhumvit Road, only 157 kilometres from Bangkok, provides easy access for enthusiasts throughout the year. In addition, Ocean Marina Yacht Club was chosen to co-host 2 major international sailing events in the Gulf of Thailand - The Gulf International Regatta 2005 and 2006, which attracted a large number of sailing enthusiasts worldwide.
To spread the trend for sailing, Ocean Marina Yacht Club has collaborated with 2 world-class institutes: Blue Wave / Yacht Pro, a renowned ASA certified sailing training institute, and a sailing school certified by the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand (YRAT), Wayu Sailing School in Sattaheep, Chonburi, to set up a sailing training institute as part of the Ocean Marina Yacht Club. This will help promote sailing among Thai and international enthusiasts, particularly Thai children who represent a growing market for sailing. Opening a sailing school will provide excellent opportunities for training Thai youths and preparing them for regional and international competitions.
Mrs. Nusara added that “We are confident that a lot of Thai children and adult enthusiasts will become sailing enthusiasts since they are inspired by our beloved King, a truly talented sport enthusiast, particular in sailing, as it is His Majesty’s favourite sport. The King won a gold medal in The 4th Sailing Competition in 1967 and also built a number of sailboats Himself. His Majesty The King’s support is a remarkable contribution towards sailing in Thailand.”
The syllabus at Blue Wave consists of a 3-day basic course, a 3-day sailing-for-pleasure course, and a 5-day yacht charter course. Blue Wave’s certified instructors are from leading institutes such as the American Sailing Association (ASA), Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA) and Australian Yachting Federation (AYF).
Wayu Sailing School has several courses for children and adults. Courses for children aged 8-16 years old consist of 3 levels for small and big sailboats, including a beginner course, advanced course and racing course. Total duration is 24 hours. Wayu Sailing School’s certified instructors are from the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage.
Mrs. Nusara further added that “Ocean Marina Yacht Club is planning to promote sailing among customers at the company’s real estate projects, for instance, Ocean Portofino in Pattaya and O2Hib, a luxury high-end condominium in Bangkok.
