In the year 2006, Thai Chefs' Association has received an honor to host “10 th WACS Asia Pacific Forum Bangkok, Thailand” — the annual congress of The World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS). The event will be held during 8 - 12 October 2006 in Bangkok , Thailand . Delegates are chefs from 20 member countries of WACS, remarked as the first time of most international chefs gathering in Thailand . This 10 th WACS congress is staged for chefs to exchange knowledge and support and also the great chance for Thailand to promote the country and Thai foods to the eyes of the world, demonstrating capability of the nation.
Moreover, 10 th WACS Asia Pacific Forum is related to Thai Government's policy to promote Thai foods to the world with the campaign “Thai Cuisine to the World”, which has been planned systematically for the achievement of the project and the good image of the country. Thai Chefs' Association is eager to complete the government mission to support the development of Thai chefs' performances to the world standard and announce the capability of Thailand to be renowned in accordance. The objectives to organize this forum are:
To be like a stage for annual world congress of WACS (World Association of Chefs Societies) for chefs around the world to exchange valued information and support to upgrade position of chefs and people in the related career.
To have this opportunity officially promote “Thai Chefs”, “Thai Chefs' Association” and “Thai Cuisine” to the world.
To impress delegates with Thai culture and international Thai ways which leads to the impressive image of the country and indirectly promote Thailand to the world.
To support the use of Thai ingredients and raw materials in international cuisine of the delegates' countries, to increase the volume of exported products since this event is the direct way to communicate with international chefs.
To create the impact of Thai Food impression which might leads to Thai menus appearing in the hotel of chef delegates or increased number of Thai restaurant opened according to Thai government's campaign “Thai Cuisine to the World”
The press conference is held at President 1 room, InterContinental Bangkok. The conference is opened by the President of Thai Chefs' Association, Chef Jamnong Nirungsan together with Mr. John Sloane, WACS Continental Director Asia and Khun Prawit Prung-Aksorn, Chairman of MegaVis/ Foodstylist Co., Ltd. — the main organizer of the forum and representative major sponsor from public organization. During the panel section, Dr. Yuthasak Supasorn, Deputy Executive Director, National Food Institute joins the discussion with Chef Jamnong, Mr. John Sloane and Khun Prawit about the importance of WACS toward Thailand and Thai entrepreneur in food & beverage industry. Moreover, the topics are also included the future collaboration between WACS and Thai Chefs' Association, the readiness of Thailand as the host of the event and why Thailand has been chosen to host this special event, etc. Chef Jamnong Nirungsan stated that this forum is the great opportunity to have chefs from Asian continent try Thai foods, which might create an impression to add Thai menu in the Hotel restaurant where chefs have worked. Moreover, this event has received the government support National Food Institute.
What is WACS?
The World Association of Chefs' Societies, or WACS in short, is a global network of chefs associations first founded in October 1928 at the Sorbonne in Paris . At that first congress there were 65 delegates from 17 countries, representing 36 national and international associations, and the venerable August Escoffier was named the first Honorary President of WACS. Today, this global body has 72 official chefs associations as members, with three that just joined at the 31st World Congress in March. The biennial congress is a hallmark tradition of WACS and has been organized in over 20 cities across the world throughout its illustrious 74-year history, WACS is managed by an elected presidential body consisting of the WACS president, vice president, treasurer, secretary general and ambassador honorary president, as well as a board of continental directors that look after the regions of Asia, Europe, Africa, the Pacific and the Americas. A separate committee manages all culinary competition-related affairs.

The non — profit Thai Chefs Association with the transparent management is supporting the government and private sectors in their efforts to promote Thai food in the world market in the thai kitchen to World Kitchen project throught the sending of Thai Chefts to participate in the relevant activities. In the future the Association is looking forward to include all the food — relate associations to come into the same roof under the to-be-register Thai Chefs Association of Thailand.
