The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and SETTRADE.Com Co., Ltd. will promote its stock trading game at the “Online Traders Get-together” at five locations around Thailand, with the first event planned for Siam Paragon department store, Bangkok, on June 23. The mini-demonstration will offer THB 50,000 in prizes, and familiarize participants with online-trading before the major competition takes place. All events are open to the public.
“It has been only a month since we launched SET Click2WIN: Thailand Stock Simulation’ and the number of applications has climbed to over 5,000,” SET Senior Vice President Mr. Kengkla Ruckphaopunt reflected.
“SET Click2WIN is an investor base expansion strategy, demonstrating the ease and convenience of internet trading. The project gains people’s attention and draws them into learning about and experiencing online-trading. This investor promotion initiative complements SET’s encouragement of securities companies establishing of ‘micro’ branches at commercial bank offices in department stores, which also enables investors to trade stocks conveniently,” SETRADE CEO Ms. Chanisa Chutipat stated.
The five ‘Online Traders Get-together’ events will be held in Bangkok and other centers during June — August 2007. After the display at Siam Paragon, two more Bangkok demonstrations will be held - at the Esplanade on July 21 and at the SET Building on August 5,
Other simulations will take place at Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University on July 1, and at Faculty of Management Sciences, Khon Kaen University on July 8.
Those who join one of the mini-Click2WIN games will gain hands-on gaming experience and learn the fundamentals of stock trading from Thailand Securities Institute. They can also meet securities firms’ staff who are keen to provide information and advice.
The events to be held in Bangkok include the Click2WIN Walk Rally, in which teams of five compete for prizes totaling THB 50,000.
SET Click2WIN, Thailand’s first online stock trading game employing virtual stock market information and conditions, proceeds over nine weeks. Applications will be accepted until September 30, and the game will take place nationwide from October 1 — November 30, 2007, offering prizes totaling THB 3 million.
Players can join as either ‘investors’, who currently have standard or internet trading accounts, or ‘experimenters’, who do not have accounts but would like to gain experience in online-trading,
