Macau is set for tourism. “Experience Macau” slogan is to promote Macau for all target segments and showcase its growth potential for MICE market through its 10 mega projects. In its latest move, Macau’s partnership with Thai Air Asia has launched a special campaign to invite Thais to get a glimpse of European experience in the heart of Asia and projects a growth of 60% by the end of this year.
Ms.Jarunee Tantinukul, Marketing Manager of Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO), reveals Macau’s marketing plan and activities to promote Thai tourists to visit Macau in 2007. MGTO will continuously promote ”Experience Macau” slogan by creating a clearly different concept highlighting diversified experiences in Macau, for example, world heritage sites visit, adventure, entertainment, events & festivals and Macanese cuisine. Towards this end, MGTO will clearly and outstandingly tailor its marketing activities for each market segment to stimulate growth in individual tourists as well as MICE as Macau is now ready to cater to business tourism.
During the first eight months of 2007 (January — August) visitor arrivals to Macau reached 17.2 millions, a 21.8% increase compared to the same period last year. It is expected that total visitor arrivals to Macau will increase 14% to 25 millions this year. With its latest development including 16,000 hotel rooms and convention facilities to cater for MICE. It is expected that in 2007 the MICE segment from Thailand, e.g. direct sales, insurance, cosmetics, beverages, construction plus export and entertainment related businesses, etc. should produce a significant growth of 30%.
”With significant and potential growth in outbound tourism, MGTO has created various marketing activities to support and to drive Macau as an even more popular tourist destination among Thai travelers by promoting Macau through various media, e.g. radio promotion on ”EAZY Explorer No. 007 Experience Macau” on FM105.5 with Virgin BEC Tero Radio Services (Thailand) as well as enhancing ”Experience Macau” campaign image through public media, i.e. on buses and BTS starting from September — November 2007. Besides, we will participate in a car rally to create mobile ads that directed at our targets with Woman Plus Magazine in this coming October.” Said Ms. Jarunee.
Furthermore, MGTO will also join hands with our close partner, Thai Air Asia to promote Thais to visit Macau by inviting Macau fans to travel to Macau to experience cool breezes amidst Macau’s European style architecture and have fun by participating in ”Photo of the Month” contest, where MGTO invites all travelers to Macau to submit pictures taken during their happy moments in Macau under the theme ”Experience Entertainment” in September and under the theme ”Experience Heritage” in October.
In November, the theme photo will move towards “Experience Cuisine”. The winner of each month’s contest will be awarded return air tickets to Macau for two. Besides this, MGTO will also offer incentives for travelers with Thai Air Asia to simply send a fax copy of Thai Air Asia boarding passes (Bangkok-Macau-Bangkok) along with names, addresses, telephones and email addresses to fax number 02-652-0509.The first 200 travelers of each month (from September — November) will receive a complimentary gift voucher valued at 200 Baht.
