KBank partners with DHL Express for international trading document transfer system Enhances competitiveness for customers

Tuesday 02 December 2008 15:45
Kasikornbank (KBank) in collaboration with DHL has introduced a real-time international trading document transfer system. Kasikornbank is the first bank in Asia to help speed up the process of international trading document transfer through a bank. This innovation enables bank customers to track and trace their documents 24 hours a day.

Prasarn Trairatvorakul, President of Kasikornbank, said that the bank is committed to being a leader in international transaction service provision. For that reason, the bank has been working with DHL Express, one of the three business units of DHL, the world's leading express and logistics company, to develop business solutions to link the bank's Trade Innovation system with DHL's expertise and services.

The innovative Business Solutions will make an international business transaction easier for exporters who are Kasikornbank's customers and want to bill their foreign trade partners. An International Trade Center will collect a document and at the same time will issue an air waybill number - the same service customers enjoy at DHL's Service Centers. A document will then be expressed overseas by DHL on the day the customer provides the documentation at the bank. This streamlines the processes and avoids problems in checking document information. It also provides more customer convenience and increases the speed document delivery to its destination.

The business solutions that link KBank Trade Innovation with real-time DHL services also allow customers to track and trace the status of documents 24 hours a day. DHL also provides customers with e-mail or SMS alerts of document status including when the document is delivered.

Chananyarak Phetcharat, Managing Director, DHL Express Thailand and Indochina, added that DHL is a world market leader in express and logistics services. As a trade facilitator, DHL continues to develop and offer a comprehensive range of innovative logistics solutions to leverage the service competence of speed and convenience and to help business partners and customers to become more competitive in an international market. This commitment is a reflection of DHL culture that always puts its customers at the heart of its business strategy.

With the concept of "one-stop service," DHL has teamed up with Kasikornbank to develop business solutions to connect an international business transaction with an express delivery service. It is considered the first such initiative among Asian banks.

Prasarn added that this innovation results in a decrease in a cost of a financial transaction, effective document management and risk management for producers, consumers and logistics providers. There are currently 55 International Trade Centers, and there will be 65 in 2009. Out of a total of 40,000 Thai exporting companies, 11,000 are Kasikornbank customers. The bank is expecting a total international transaction of 2.2 trillion baht or 40% increase in growth by the end of 2008.
