Increasing industry support for POWER-GEN Asia 2009

Thailand utilities confirm support

POWER-GEN Asia 2009, the premier conference and exhibition for the power generation and transmission and distribution industries in South East Asia, continues to gain great support from the region’s ministries and energy authorities.

Following the recent endorsement from the Ministry of Energy, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) and Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) have also confirmed their keen support towards this year’s event.

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has also announced their support for this high profile event.

Strengthening Energy Security for Sustained Economic Growth

Thailand’s 2007 Power Development Plan forecasts demand to increase from 26,235 MW in 2010 to 46,481 MW by 2020, with approximately 50 per cent to be delivered by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and 50 per cent from IPPs.

The Government exploring new opportunities from coal and gas to renewables and nuclear and is one of the first countries in Asia to have a policy to encourage generation of power from renewable energy. In order to sustain economic growth, energy security to support the developing markets must be strengthened.

From 7th — 9th October 2009, POWER-GEN Asia, co-located with Renewable Energy World Asia, expect over 6,000 industry professionals, who will gather for 3 days in Bangkok to enjoy the industry’s leading conference and experience the latest developments and ideas for the future of the Asian power generation sector.
