THAI Holds Anointing Ceremony for Two Aircraft

Today at 08.39 hours, Somdej Phra Maha Racha Mangkalajarn, the abbot of Wat Paknam, presided over the anointing ceremony for Thai Airways International Public Company Limited’s two aircraft, the new Boeing 777-200ER and Airbus A330-300. Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand, THAI President, and members of Management were present for the ceremony held at the Hangar of THAI’s Technical Department at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand said that THAI’s Boeing 777-200ER, registered as HS-TJT, is royally bestowed the name “PATHUMWAN,” and the Airbus A330-300 registered as HS-TEQ is royally bestowed the name “SI AYUTTHAYA.” Rolls Royce Trent engines power both aircraft. For passenger enjoyment both aircraft come with an in-flight entertainment system that offer over 100 movie selections, 500 music album choices, 60 VDO games and 150 famous documentaries.

The Boeing 777-200ER (HS-TJT, “PATHUMWAN”) will operate on international routes to Johannesburg, Oslo, Milan, Auckland, Brisbane and Melbourne, can carry 292 passengers with 30 in Business Class and 262 in Economy Class, with the following seating features:

Business Class seat width of 20 inches, 61-inch seat pitch and seat recline of 170 degrees, 15-inch personal screen and noise cancelling headphone

Economy Class seat width of 18 inches, 34-inch seat pitch and 9-inch personal screen and headphone

The Airbus A330-300 (HS-TEQ, “SI AYUTTHAYA”) will operate on regional routes to Nagoya, Fuguoka, Osaka and Shanghai, can carry 299 passengers with 36 in Business Class and 263 in Economy Class with the following seating features:

Business Class seat width of 20 inches, 58-inch seat pitch and seat recline of 170 degrees, 15-inch personal screen and noise cancelling headphone

Economy Class seat width of 18 inches, 32-inch seat pitch and 9-inch personal screen and headphone

THAI currently has 46 Boeing aircraft and 41 Airbus aircraft, totaling 87 in its fleet.
