Boonmee Sangkhum, a young blood Thai artist aged thirty-seven and graduated from Department of Graphic Arts, Faculty of Painting Sculpture and Graphic Arts of Silpakorn University won the Grand Prize in print and talked about the concept of his award-winning work “ Essence, Truth, Reality No.13” as follows :

“Buddhist Philosophy is considered the main inspiration in creating my artworks. According to Buddhism, things in general must be driven by the power of origin and factors that influence specific situations . Therefore, the teaching of universal truth aims to pass on the knowledge of the understandings both nature and life by practicing meditation for it well leads us to the peaceful hereafter. Clearly, the teaching artworks apply Mezzotint technique to portray different plants in order to reflect happiness, solitude and concentration which are the meaning of Buddhist lifestyle.”

Boonmee also had many solo exhibitions both in Thailand and abroad as well as he participated in many international art competitions. His latest award-winning prize was the First Prize from the 8th Kochi International Triennial Exhibition of Prints in Aichi prefecture, Japan.

Cyprian Bielaniec, a high-profiled Polish artist won the Grand Prize in drawing from this contest and talked about his concept of “ Hell and Heaven”, the award-winning work as follows:

“In my works, I combine incompatible realities and materials. I deal with eschatological story. In the work “Hell and Heaven” , I set the extremes (Reality ? and Sercret?) recognized by many religions. The mystery of hell and heaven exceeds the human capacity of understanding and imagination. Despite this, I’m trying to get closer to the mystery as old monsters of European painting in the fifteenth and sixteenth century.”

Cyprian Bielaniec joined and won many awards from a great number of international art competitions, for example, the Award of the Mayor of Belchato from All-Polish “ Young Art Festival” — Belchatow (Poland); the Award of the Mayor of Lublin from “ The Best Graphics and Drawing of the Year ”- Lublin (Poland); 11th Pre-Auction Modern Polish Painting Exhibition — New York (USA); 5th International Pastel Biennial — Nowy Sacz (Poland) including his many exhibitions in Italy, Denmark , Slovakia, Holland, Romania etc.
