Visa and Easy Top Up, an automatic toll payment provider, have introduced a better, faster service that lets commuters in Bangkok save time when topping up their Easy Pass. Bangkok motorists can now automatically top up their Easy Pass using their preferred Visa card as a convenient and reliable payment option.

To enroll in the automatic top up service by Easy Top Up, commuters must first register their Visa card. Once enrolled, Easy Pass cardholders can top up their account by driving through the Easy Pass lane. If the available account balance is less than or equal to 300 THB, it will automatically be topped up by 1,000 THB*. Once the top up has been processed, an SMS confirmation** will be sent to the cardholder to reflect the new balance and transaction.

“The Ministry of Transport is committed to solving the traffic issues in Bangkok. The Expressway Authority of Thailand launched Easy Pass in 2010 to help relieve traffic congestion,” said Jarupong Ruangsuwan, Minister of Transport. “Since launching, Easy Pass has seen continual growth in users and has proved to be very popular. We welcome the latest development to the service with the introduction of Auto Top Up by Visa card which will bring more convenience to Easy Pass members.”

Aiyanat Tinapai, Governor, Expressway Authority of Thailand said: “There are currently 440,000 Easy Pass members and we expect this number to keep increasing. Easy Pass members benefit from a convenient and easy to use service. This new additional payment method means users no longer have to search for money to top up their card, nor will they have to interrupt their journey. This new service provides two methods for members to top up their cash — either by using the Auto Top Up card or by sending an SMS. We are committed to making Easy Pass more convenient and by partnering with Easy Top UP we are pleased to be launching Easy Pass Auto Top Up by Visa card. ”

Somboon Krobteeranon, Country Manager, Thailand, Visa said, “Driving and long commutes are a part of daily life for people across Thailand. That’s why Visa’s collaboration with Easy Top Up is important as it’s a year-long exclusive partnership that will help ease the daily stress of commuters. Commuters can go cashless - drivers no longer have to wait in long queues in regular toll lanes to top up their Easy Pass with cash. The automatic Easy Pass top up is hassle free, and will simplify the lives of our busy cardholders.”

"We are proud to present a long awaited Automatic Top Up solution for Easy Pass Users,” said Thanin Angsuwarangsi, Managing Director, Easy Top Up Co Ltd. “Our solutions not only offer the most convenient and speedy way to refill the Easy Pass card, but also provide credit terms to Easy Pass users if they wish to pay by credit card. We anticipate that many Visa card issuing banks will offer attractive promotions for their customers which will bring great benefits to Easy Pass Users."

To celebrate the launch of this service Visa cardholders who register between 16 August and 31 December 2012 will be eligible for an exclusive promotion package as the top 100 spenders during this time will receive an additional Easy Pass Card top up value of THB 2,500***.
