RBS appoints Charly Madan as Country Executive and Head of International Banking, Thailand

The Royal Bank of Scotland plc (RBS) has appointed Charly Madan as Country Executive and Head of International Banking for Thailand, effective 1 December, Mr. Madan,will have overall management and responsibility of RBS’s Markets & International Banking businesses in Thailand, which includes Debt Financing, Markets, Transaction Services and Risk Management. As Country Executive, he will also ensure the bank’s compliance of regulatory requirements as well as the bank’s own risk policies and procedures.

Commenting on the appointment, Madan Menon, RBS’s Head of International Banking for Asia Pacific, said: We are delighted to welcome Charly into RBS. With over 25 years of banking experience in Asia Pacific, Charly will be invaluable in driving our strategy to focus on our core strengths in fixed income, foreign exchange, debt financing, transaction services and risk management solutions. His appointment reinforces our commitment to our network in the region and more importantly, to our businesses and clients in Thailand.”

Mr. Madan joins RBS from Bank of Ayudhya PCL (Krungsri), one of the largest and oldest banks in Thailand, where he was Head of Corporate Banking, and also the Chairman of Krungri Factoring Co. Ltd and on the Board of Directors for Krungsri Securities PCL. He assumed those roles in January 2010.

Prior to Krungsri, Mr. Madan was the Country Officer for Citibank Vietnam for five years and worked in Citibank Thailand as Head of Global Relationship Banking & Financial Services Group for nine years. He was also with Standard Chartered Bank Thailand for five years.

Mr. Madan will report into Mr. Menon. Mr. Madan has an MBA from the SASIN Graduate Institute of Business Administration in Thailand (in conjunction with the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania) and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Assumption Business Administration College.
