The National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) - Thailand together with Polymer Society of Thailand organized the 28th International Conference of the Polymer Processing Society (PPS-28) at Pattaya’s largest and best convention venue, PEACH (Pattaya Exhibition And Convention Hall) from December 11th — 15th, 2012.

The 28th International Conference of the Polymer Processing Society is one of the highly acclaimed annual meetings in the field of polymer processing. This was the second time that the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) has the honor of hosting this prestigious event in Thailand; the first in 1999.

This 5-day event was attended by over 500 participants from 42 countries while 18 exhibitors took advantage of around 1,000 sq.m. of floor space at PEACH to showcase their products and services in the field of polymer processing.

During the opening ceremony, Dr. Krisda Suchiva, Deputy Executive Director of National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) and Chairman of PPS-28 welcomed the Polymer Processing Society’s executives, international representatives and the delegates. Dr. Ica Manas-Zloczower, President of the Polymer Processing Society presided and delivered the opening speech at Pattaya Exhibition And Convention Hall.

During the course of the conference, delegates enjoyed an ample selection of international cuisine and carefully prepared mouthwatering Halal delights for the Muslim delegates at the hotel’s onsite Hal-Q Certified Halal kitchen.

Dr. Krisda Suchiva exclaimed, “We are happy with PEACH’s facilities, huge space, big halls and many breakout rooms. It is a perfect venue for all types of conferences and events.”

The International Conference of the Polymer Processing Society presented thematic ranges of new research results covering most polymer processing technologies, Rheology, process modeling and simulation, morphology and structure development, nanotechnology-related processing technology, bio-based and biodegradable polymers and rubber processing.

The conference activities consisted of plenary lectures, 10 general symposia and poster presentations—utilizing 7 breakout rooms. There was also a symposium in honor of Professor Musa Kamal, the Palestinian born chemical engineer who has made pioneering contributions to polymer processing research.

Hall A, measuring 1,568 sq.m. was used for the opening and closing ceremonies, conference and plenary lectures. The conference included 4 special symposia, natural rubber plantation and processor visit, an exhibition and concluded with a Gala Dinner and a variety of entertainments.

The Polymer Processing Society was founded in March 1985 at the University of Akron, Ohio, USA; the intent was to provide a mechanism and format for interaction and presentation of research results in the international polymer processing community; the goals are to foster scientific understanding and technical innovation in polymer processing by providing a discussion forum for the worldwide community of Engineers and Scientists in the field.

PEACH is the largest and best MICE venue outside of Bangkok. This world class award-winning convention centre is the perfect venue to hold any kind of event, and is able to accommodate up to 10,062 people. Whether it is a global business exhibition, a popular concert, or luxurious wedding; a professional team of MICE experts at this multi-purpose self-sufficient ‘one stop convention venue’, are on hand to assist you with your every need.
