Trader Vic’s Rolls Out New Feast For All The Senses

Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa’s unique Pacific Rim restaurant Trader Vic’s is launching exotic new temptations, creating a sensational feast for all the senses. Exciting new menus promise even more enticing flavours than before. While the upbeat rhythms of a fantastic live band all the way from Cuba add the vibrancy of authentic Latin entertainment.

The Trader Vic’s experience begins at the Mai Tai Bar, which offers an extensive cocktail menu. Guests are spoilt for choice with a selection of exotic and classic creations, martinis and mojitos, as well as the original Mai Tai recipe that was purportedly invented at the Trader Vic's restaurant in California back in 1944, accompanied by the addition of five brand new flavours to its famous Mai Tai collection, namely the 1977 Mai Tai, Maui Mai Tai, Mango Mai Tai, Guava Mai Tai and Vodka Mai Tai.

Guests staying for an evening meal can dine at the bar, in the Polynesian inspired dining room or outside in the tropical riverside garden. The new menus, perfected by the resort’s Executive Chef and Trader Vic’s own talented chef, showcase distinctive Pacific Rim tastes. Meals can be complemented by a wide selection of wines, enhanced by expert recommendations from the resident Wine Guru.

The restaurant’s main dinner menu features “Tidbits and Pupus” appetisers, such as Korean Chicken Tacos comprising spiced chicken seasoned rice, spicy kimchee, crispy wonton skins and roast chili aioli. Sumptuous “Starters” include tableside preparation and sensational seafood dishes. Specialty “From The Wok” dishes and classic “Trader Vic’s Favourites” are joined by tasty side dishes and signature creations baked in Bangkok’s only wood fired Chinese oven. The highlight of this cooking method is indirect heat drawn in from the fire outside. As the fire is not inside the oven, natural juices are not burned and therefore do not add unpleasant flavours or spoil the appearance of meat, making these dishes healthier options for meat lovers. Meat, fowl and seafood are suspended from hooks and slowly cooked in natural smoke of seasoned woods to produce a unique and original taste. Signature dishes include Barbequed St Louis Spareribs in a half or full slab that are salted overnight and glazed in Trader Vic’s original barbeque sauce, as well as the Wood Fired New York Strip Steak available in 250 or 400 grams, served with crispy creamed spinach, garlic potato puree, Cabernet Sauvignon and port wine glaze.

In addition, Trader Vic’s new bar food menu offers delicious gourmet bites, including several items from the main dinner menu, joined by must try dishes like the Trader Vic’s Burger and Kashmiri Lamb Sliders. Infusing a dash of local flavour, the culinary offering also includes Thai specialties, such as Seared King Sea Scallops with tamarind sauce, green mango salad and shallots.

Bringing vibrant entertainment from Cuba live to Bangkok, Trader Vic’s new band “Cuba Si” is performing every night from 7:30 pm to midnight up until 15th October 2013. Originating from Matanzas — a Cuban city well known for its Afro-Cuban style music — the energetic band is made up of four exceptional musicians, singers and dancers. Delighting their audience with a passionate Latin repertoire of contemporary hits and popular classics, Cuba Si sings in Spanish and English, with a medley that ranges from salsa, flamenco and the cha cha cha, to merengue, timba cubana, latin pop and reggaeton.
