Saint-Gobain Group, the world's largest building products manufacturer specializing in the design, production and distribution of functional and sustainable materials for the construction, industrial and consumer markets, hosted this year’s third Saint-Gobain Thailand Club dinner and business briefing at Hansar Hotel Bangkok. The event brought together senior executives from the group’s Thailand business units to review a presentation and business update by Saint-Gobain’s charismatic and longstanding General Director of Construction Products Sector, Claude Imauven from Saint-Gobain in France. His two decades of successful stewardship over ever-growing Saint-Gobain group businesses made for a fascinating backdrop to the presentation, which focused on overcoming market difficulties by remaining faithful to excellence and innovation.

Claude Imauven explained, “Saint-Gobain’s product division contributes 25% to group turnover and 40% to profits. Its strength is in its ability to innovate, create new markets and be very efficient in terms of profitability. As Europe is struggling, Asia is the major boom opportunity in construction, and so we bring our capabilities to this region; the strength and solidarity of a group with mutual cash; the brands and benefits we own; and our excellence in manufacturing and making the right local investments. In Thailand, we have the right capacities in the right place, and we will consolidate our innovative approach to improve upon the consistent 12% growth per year we have enjoyed over the last six years consecutively. September in particular was a very good month and we have bested expectations.”

The group’s operation in South East Asia comprises more than 10 plants in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam, and employs over 2,000 people. Globally, Saint-Gobain has 190,000 employees organized into four business sectors; Flat Glass, Packaging, Construction Products and Building Materials Distribution.
