TUNE INSPIRES TO MAKE A CHANGE“Inspiring The Best” for Children’s Cancer Care

The heart of the matter is that Tune Insurance is utterly committed to reach out to children affected by cancer and provide assistance for their rehabilitation, and treatment. Today, Tune Insurance brought that commitment to life at a Cheque Presentation ceremony for the “Inspiring The Best” charity campaign, held at The Oak Room, Bangsar South.

The event kicked off with opening address by Junior Cho, CEO of Tune Ins Holdings Bhd., followed by three parents who shared experiences of their children and cancer. Their story of overcoming cancer was not only a source of encouragement to all but served as an inspiring hope to others struggling with this illness.

“Inspiring The Best” is a cause that the Tune Insurance team holds dear and the reason why Tune INSpire – the CSR program by Tune Insurance Group, teamed up with AirAsia to raise awareness and financial assistance for children with Cancer. In their effort to ‘put some love into everything we do’, the Tune INSpire team rallied the support of their customers and launched the meaningful month-long campaign. Tune Insurance would like to especially thank all policyholders for their support, which not only made this donation possible but also contributed towards a successful campaign.

Through the campaign, Tune INSpire donated USD0.10 for every Tune INSURE AirAsia Travel Protection Plan policy that was purchased from midnight on the 15th of March 2015 to 15th of April 2015. This applied to all policies that were issued during ticket booking, Manage My Booking or Web Check-In for countries offering travel insurance. During this CSR campaign, Tune Insurance and AirAsia also held several other awareness events through their respective social media networks with the official campaign hashtag, #InspiringTheBest.

The event today was a culmination of the month-long “Inspiring The Best” Charity Campaign, where donations totalling USD73,205.20 were collected. Tune Insurance then made the decision to top up the amount to USD100,000 and this was presented to four NGOs focused on Children’s Cancer Treatment, Rehabilitation and Awareness.

These organisations were carefully selected because of their individual pledge to make a significant change to the face of Children’s Cancer Treatment and Rehabilitation; a sentiment that Tune Insurance shares. Four cheques, each amounting to USD25,000, were presented to the National Cancer Society of Malaysia, Wishing Well Foundation Thailand, Indonesia Care for Cancer Kids Foundation and the Cancer Warriors Foundation Inc. in the Philippines.

“Although these organisations are scattered across four countries in the region, they all share similar goals to create much-needed social awareness and identify ways to provide for Children’s cancer treatments,” said Junior Cho, CEO of Tune Ins Holdings Bhd. “Our hope is that in our own way, we can play a small role in touching the lives of children struggling with cancer. If this charity campaign and donation can contribute to the treatment and rehabilitation of even one child with cancer, then we know we have made a difference,” Cho added.

With the success of the #InspiringTheBest Campaign, Tune Insurance has now decided to keep the momentum going and continue the Charity Drive until 31st December 2015. Tune Insurance will complement their existing annual budget for CSR programmes by additionally contributing USD0.10 each time someone buys a Tune INSURE AirAsia Travel Protection Plan. The team will periodically announce a new recipient for this contribution.

Aside from their personal belief in this particular cause, Sasitharan Krishnan, Managing Director, Tune GenRe Ltd., the company responsible for the Group’s Global Travel Insurance, said the recent accolades awarded to us were also a catalyst for this outreach campaign. “The bar was raised to aim higher when Tune Insurance won Forbes Asia’s Best of The Best Award late last year. We want to embrace this not only in the way we do business but also through our community programs. This Charity Campaign is one of the many plans we have for 2015 to show our gratitude and appreciation to our community and loyal customers.”
