Mr.Edward G. Galante, chairman and managing director of Esso (Thailand) Public Company Limited, presented a check for 100,000 baht to ML Birabhongse Kasemsri, His Majesty's Principal Private Secretary as chaiman of S.E.A Write Award Organizing Committee, to support the 1998 S.E.A. Write Award Presentation. The award was aimed at recognizing and promoting the literary talent of writers in the Asean countries. The contribution presentation was recently held at The Oriental, Bangkok.
Esso has realized the importance of literary works as a major artistic and communicative means to transfer languages, knowledge culture, all national heritages, among people. The company, therefore, supported the S.E.A. Write Award, an annual award to honor creative literary works and talented writers from the Aseam countries. In this year, the 20th event since its inception in 1979, there were literary works from nine joining country members including Brunei, Malasia, Indonesia, The Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand. The award presentation will be held in September this year.
