Education for Development Foundation (EDF Foundation) has partnered with funding platform https://taejai.com on 'Save Dropout Students' project to award scholarships to 100 Mattayom Sueksa 2 or 3 (grade 8 or 9) students from small schools in the northeastern of Thailand. Each eligible underprivileged student will receive 2,000 baht.

These students applied for EDF scholarships for 2021 academic year but missed the opportunities, as there were not enough funds from the foundation. Interested people or organizations can donate online until 30 June 2022 at   https://taejai.com/th/d/save-drop-out-students/

According to EDF Foundation managing director, Mr. Sunphet Nilrat, "EDF Foundation is committed to the development of underprivileged Thai youth's quality of life by providing them access up to at least the lower secondary level.

"To help these students, we have partnered with https://taejai.com to raise funds under 'Save Dropout Students' project for a group of 100 underprivileged students from small schools in the northeastern part of Thailand for the upcoming academic year 2022.

"The scholarship is 2,000 baht per person and will allow them to move up to Mattayom Sueksa 2 or 3 (grade 8 or 9) for the 2022 academic year instead of dropping out."

EDF defines underprivileged students as those whole families have annual income of 50,000-70,000 baht. EDF scholarships factor in students' good behavior and performance of their responsibilities, among other things.

He said the foundation does not consider the underprivileged students' school grades or GPA.

"For 2021 academic year, 10,000 underprivileged students applied for scholarships, however, we could only provide around 8,000 scholarships, which meant 2,000 students missed out. The COVID-19 situation and resulting downturn in the economy were mainly to blame," he said.
