Global trends have shown that people have brought more pets into their families, and this has led to a sharp increase in consumer demand for premium pet food in Thailand and across the region. The new Nestle PURINA PetCare factory addresses this opportunity by increasing Nestle's production capacity for nutritious, high-quality pet food.

Designed for efficient and sustainable operation, the new Rayong factory will increase Nestle PURINA PetCare's presence in the wet cat food single serve product segment, a priority category for the company. It makes products under the PURINA ONE(R), PRO PLAN(R), FELIX(R) and FANCY FEAST(R) brands for the Thai market and will export them to countries throughout the Asia, Oceania, and Africa (AOA) region. The new Nestle PURINA PetCare factory will contribute to accelerating revenue and profit growth for Nestle while strengthening Thailand's position as an important production hub for high-quality pet food products.

Mr. Victor Seah, Chairman and CEO of Nestle Indochina, said, "I am delighted to be here today for the grand opening of the new Nestle PURINA PetCare factory in Rayong, which is an ideal strategic location. Thailand offers easy access to high-quality raw materials and is logistically convenient to supply products across AOA (Asia, Oceania, and Africa), especially the ASEAN region, which is an emerging market with tremendous potential for our pet care business. With an investment of five billion Baht, the new PURINA factory reinforces Nestle's long-term commitment to doing business in Thailand while creating quality job opportunities for the local community. This investment clearly reflects our purpose in helping people and their pets live healthier lives."

Mr. Jean Grunenwald, Chief Executive Officer, Nestle PURINA PetCare Asia, Oceania and Africa, said, "The new Nestle PURINA PetCare factory will be the foundation for our wet cat single serve food product line, both for the Thai market and across key markets in AOA including Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. The first country we are focusing on for exports is Japan, a major market very well known for its high standards and requirements for the best product quality. Complying with exacting Japanese regulations and meeting the expectations of demanding Japanese consumers demonstrate the high quality of the products we make at the new Nestle PURINA PetCare factory. Exports to ASEAN and other key markets will quickly follow throughout the rest of the year."

Mr. Giuseppe Pasqualini, Regional Business Head, Nestle PURINA PetCare - ASEAN, explained, "Cat lovers can rest assured with the advanced technologies in the new Nestle PURINA PetCare factory, backed by our comprehensive R&D efforts to develop high-quality products their cats will love. We use natural ingredients, conduct in-depth studies to understand the nutritional needs of cats, and have the strictest quality control processes that meet stringent international standards, so consumers can trust that our products will offer healthy nutrition, taste, and enjoyment for pets."

"With the latest state-of-the-art equipment in the new 93,872 sq m Nestle PURINA PetCare factory, we continue to strive towards our sustainability commitments for a healthier planet for pets and people, including making all of our packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025, the latest automation technologies to decarbonize our operations, and efficient energy savings. Advanced technology at the new Purina factory includes a fully automated system that features a high-speed filling line with products handled by robots, AGV (automated guided vehicle) material handling, and high-speed robot multi packers that can each finish more than 720 packs per minute." he added.

The first Nestle PURINA PetCare factory opened in Thailand in 2010 in Amata Industrial Estate. It produces dry dog and cat food. Data from Euromonitor shows significant growth of 9.4% in Thailand's total dog and cat food market, which was valued at 39,000 million Baht in 2021.
