Huawei Concludes 'Seeds for the Future 2022' Program, Cultivating Young Digital Talents in Thailand and ASEAN to Shape the Digital Future

Huawei Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd., in partnership with the ASEAN Foundation and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), concluded 'Seeds for the Future 2022' program in Asia-Pacific with the closing ceremony in Thailand. This program aims to address the digital talent gap in Thailand and the ASEAN region to support digital transformation through competitions and hands-on training among young ICT talents. Huawei will continue to hold competitions among the winning teams from Singapore and global competitions to help enable new Asian startups to be successful on the global stage.
Huawei Concludes 'Seeds for the Future 2022' Program, Cultivating Young Digital Talents in Thailand and ASEAN to Shape the Digital Future

'Seeds for the Future 2022' program was held in Thailand, at the ASEAN level for the first time, attended by more than 120 students from 16 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) also co-hosted this program to share meaningful and memorable travel experiences for the participants. They visited iconic sites in Bangkok such as the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha to experience Thai traditions and cultural values. The students also visited the United Nations regional center, the Metaverse Expo, and the Huawei's office in Thailand. There were also art and cultural exchange activities to strengthen their relationship. This year, Thai students showcased local Thai food to students from other countries and participated in 'Tech4Good' competition to learn about technology and innovative digital power solutions, 5G, and cloud. The students also participated in experience sharing sessions from last year program alumni in Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

The official closing ceremony of 'Seeds for the Future 2022' program was held at the Grand Fortune Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand on Saturday, August 27, 2022. The winners were selected from 7 teams from Cambodia, South Korea, Nepal, Bangladesh, Singapore and 2 other teams from the ASEAN Foundation while Thai students won 'The best supporter' award. The selected winning teams will join 'Accelerator camp' and visit famous destinations in Singapore from 29th August to September 4th, 2022. Participants will have an opportunity to meet top executives and investors and continue the competition. In addition, the finalist will compete on global stage in January 2023.

To address the digital skills gap in Thailand, Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure, initiated 'Seeds for the Future' program in 2008 in Thailand. This program offers annual scholarships while gathering young ICT talents from leading universities to join academic camp and cultural exchange programs. The objective of the program is to find young talents and give them access to cutting-edge technologies to help them shape the digital future in their countries.

Pragya Mallick from Nepal, a fourth-year student, Bachelor's in Electrical and Electronics Engineering - Communication, Kathmandu University, said: "I was thrilled to join 'Seeds for the Future' program as the representative from Nepal. I was proud to be part of the team in this international program to gain insights from industry experts which was a unique experience. During the program, we visited iconic sites in Bangkok including Huawei's office where we learned about 5G, cloud, AI, and digital power solutions. We also participated in 'Tech4Good' competition to propose innovative solutions for social and environmental problems using smart technology. Huawei has given me so much to learn and look forward to."

Dustin Connor Berry from Thailand, a third-year student, Multimedia and Entertainment Engineering, Bangkok University in Thailand said: "I want to thank Huawei to host this program APAC Seeds for the Future 2022. I had to get the chance to experienced working with other people from other University and get to meet new friends from other countries and it was the best feeling in my life not just that I am a changed person right now this program had started another passion and goals for me."

This program was launched in Thailand in 2008, while Huawei helps accelerating digital transformation. We launched 'Seeds for the Future' program 14 years ago to develop digital talents and close the skills gap by providing them with hands-on training.
