Krungsri President and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Seiichiro Akita, said "Krungsri's commitment to guiding principles of banking with purpose incorporates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations, evidenced by our key environmental initiatives to advance climate action, a collective and urgent agenda at both national and international levels. Krungsri launched the "Krungsri Zero Waste" project in 2018 with an aim to advance accurate and efficient resource management, reducing waste to landfills which is one of the largest contributors of greenhouse gases. In 2020, the Bank successfully installed a food waste decomposer at Krungsri's head office using biotechnology to transform food leftovers into enriched bio-soil for plants, a practice supporting Thailand's circular economy model, while reinforcing Krungsri's exemplary organization in advocating resource efficiency."
"This year, Krungsri, in collaboration with Siam City Cement PCL, our key strategic partner, enhances our meaningful environmental mission in pushing toward zero waste by expanding the area equipped with a food waste decomposer manufactured by Insee Ecocycle Co.,Ltd., a subsidiary of SCCC, to cover Krungsri Ploenchit Office. This effort we made will help reduce food waste to landfills by more than 3,000 kilograms per year, or 7,500 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalents (kgCO2e), in conformity with Krungsri Carbon Neutrality Vision wherein we aim to decarbonize our own operations by 2030.", Mr. Akita added.
