Honeywell and Resorts World Sentosa join forces to reduce carbon impact and energy use at Singapore's premier tourist destination

Wednesday 12 July 2023 14:10
Honeywell today announced a collaboration with Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) to implement Singapore's first large-scale, cloud-based building management system (BMS) to help drive decarbonization efforts, reduce energy consumption and streamline workflows.

The new system will equip RWS, a 49-hectare resort that features world-class attractions and luxury hotels, with smarter control of its building systems using dynamic energy optimization, fault-detection diagnostics and predictive maintenance. These Honeywell technologies are designed to reduce utility and operational costs, detect, and minimize energy waste, and improve occupant comfort and well-being - all while streamlining RWS's compliance with Singapore's stringent environmental regulations.

Honeywell and RWS will also jointly develop the property's centralized command centre into an open-architecture showcase to encourage industrywide adoption of these system-agnostic solutions.

"Honeywell is pleased to have Resorts World Sentosa join us in shaping the future of building management systems," said Yadav Sharad, vice president and general manager, Honeywell Building Technologies ASEAN. "We commend RWS not only for adopting the latest building management technology but also for stepping forward to commission an open showcase that demonstrates the advantages of collaborative learning - a significant milestone in that it freely shares our insights and best practices to help advance the adoption of smart technology and connectivity across the industry."

Honeywell's smart dynamic energy optimization will autonomously adjust settings in real time to achieve up to 4GWh of energy savings annually for RWS equivalent to the consumption of over 880 four-room high-density building flats while still maintaining comfortable temperatures for guests in Singapore's tropical climate. The company's fault-detection diagnostics and predictive maintenance solutions will maintain 24/7 surveillance of building systems, analyzing large amounts of data to provide real-time, automated troubleshooting and operational insights on energy consumption trends.

Honeywell will also integrate RWS's building management system with lifts, escalators, lighting, and fire detection systems to deliver comprehensive oversight of the resort's building operations. This will include installation of IoT-connected sensors that will track and reduce these components' energy consumption.
