inDrive, a global mobility and urban services platform, has announced that it has received accreditation from the Department of Land Transport (DLT) to provide ride-hailing services officially in Thailand. This accreditation marks a significant milestone in the company's ongoing mission to empower consumers with the freedom of choice and to make ride-hailing services more accessible in Thailand.

inDrive offers car and motorcycle ride-hailing services. However, unlike most ride-hailing apps, inDrive provides more choice and control in the ride-hailing experience by allowing passengers to choose their preferred driver and vice versa. When passengers confirm their ride request, they will be presented with a list of available drivers. They can choose any driver that meets their preferences, such as driver's rating, vehicle model and estimated arrival time.

Meanwhile, drivers can also freely choose the most appropriate rides. They will be notified of ride requests with details such as fare, pick-up point and the ride destination. Drivers can select any ride based on that information and can ignore requests if they deem it unsuitable without being penalised. By using inDrive, drivers have the freedom to choose, giving them more flexibility on how they make money.

To ensure fairness, fares are determined based on the guidelines set by the DLT. Currently, drivers can use inDrive to make money without being imposed on the platform's service fee. However, the company will implement a low service fee of 9.99% for each ride in the near future, allowing drivers to earn more.

Safety remains one of inDrive's top priorities, and this commitment is underscored by the following features:

  • Share GPS location and ride details in real-time with trusted contacts
  • A dedicated emergency button that will connect users directly with law enforcement agencies
  • A chat function that allows passengers and drivers to communicate while maintaining privacy
  • 24/7 support via in-app support chat and email
  • Strict driver registration process

The platform has also introduced a Safety Pact to further improve safety awareness and practices. The Safety Pact calls for a three-sided alliance between passengers, drivers and inDrive to share responsibility for ensuring the safety of every single ride.

The pact, which can be found on inDrive's website, outlines efforts by the company to provide a safe experience for users and a code of conduct that encourages mutual respect and secure practices when using the platform.

Roman Ermoshin, Director of Business Development for APAC at inDrive, emphasised the significance of the accreditation, stating, "We are now licensed and in compliance with the law, meaning all doors are open for us now for further development in line with the government strategy and support.

"We are truly honoured to receive official accreditation to operate in Thailand. This underscores our relentless commitment to the guidelines set by the DLT and to contribute to developing the ride-hailing industry in Thailand by enabling choice and reliable service."

Meanwhile, Varoontape Tanlamai, inDrive's Head of Business Development for Thailand, said: "Our platform delivers something that most ride-hailing services can't provide - we bring more transparency, freedom of choice and fairness to our users.

inDrive is currently available in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Pattaya. The app can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play Store.
