SCB, KB Kookmin Bank, and GLN International to offer tourists from South Korea making QR code payment in Thailand

Tourism is an important sector driving the economy and generating income for Thailand. According to Ministry of Tourism and Sports statistics, the number of tourists visiting Thailand during January - September 2023 was over 19 million, and a total income of more than 1.3 trillion baht was generated. Among the top five were tourists from South Korea. Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) has therefore joined hands with South Korea's largest commercial bank KB Kookmin Bank (KB) and global integrated cross-border payment platform GLN International (GLN) to ink a partnership providing a cross-border QR code payment solution to offer South Korean tourists with convenience during their stay in Thailand. The partnership enables South Korean tourists to use 'KB Wallet' to make QR code payment while traveling in Thailand thru 'KB Wallet GLN' (Global Loyalty Network) Cross-Border QR Payment service without any transaction fees. On the merchant side, QR code scanning will be available at Thai QR Code merchants nationwide. The partnership will offer a payment option that is quick, convenient, and secure to cater to the increasing number of foreign visitors during the high season.
