The scores are divided according to the following indicators:
- Setting and Infrastructure, with a score of 1,225 points (Last year's score, bestowed a score of 8,200 points to the University of Phayao, which represent an increase: 1,150 points)
- Energy and Climate Change, with a score of 1,525 points (Last year's score: 1,375 points)
- Waste Management, with a score of 1,350 points (Last year's score: 1,275 points)
- Water Management, with a score of 850 points (Last year's score: 800 points)
- Transportation, with a score of 1,625 points (Last year's score: 1,475 points)
- Education and Research, with a score of 1,625 points (Last year's score: 1,525 points)
The UI Green Metric was initiated by Universitas Indonesia (UI) since 2010 to evaluate and compare universities' activities in maintaining a sustainable environment on campus, including integration with teaching, and learning in the curriculum and developing the university area to be green. It adheres to the principles of the 3 E's: Environment, Economics, and Equity.
The criteria for evaluating universities are set in 6 areas:
- Setting and infrastructure.
- Energy and Climate Change.
- Wastes.
- Water.
- Transportation.
- Education.
Each criterion has details of indicators ranging from 5 to 11 indicators and the scores are clearly defined.
The UI Green Metric World University Ranking 2023 is a globally accepted benchmark that demonstrates a university's commitment to environmentally friendly management and sustainable development. This criterion is consistent with strategic goals: Development of a Modern Management System, Efficiency, Transparency, and Good Governance. The university is ranked as a world-class green educational institution (UI Green).
The University of Phayao has set a goal to operate UP Green in 2024 to drive the policy of participating in the UI Green Metric World University Ranking to be higher and organize a UI Green competition at the departmental level. This includes the adjustment of the target value in Super KPI of the University of Phayao to be ranked 1 in the top 100 in the world.
