The jewel of the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Samui is a tropical wonderland to behold - with white sandy beaches, pristine coral reefs, and swaying palm trees providing the perfect island escape. Although it is an all-year round destination, there is no better time to visit the island than during springtime when the skies extend in an impossible blue arc all the way to the horizon.

"This is the best time to be in Samui, when the festive fervour of summer is upon us," says Jasjit Assi, General Manager, Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui. "The team is excited to present a calendar full of festivity, beginning with the joy of Easter, followed by Eid, and culminating in the lively celebration of Songkran, our Thai New Year. Summer promises to be special at the Resort, with special dining experiences and attractive spa promotions to ramp up the festive spirit. Guests travelling with family can avail the many benefits of the Private Retreats - Reunite and Reconnect offer, which includes signature food and beverage and spa offerings, and daily breakfast, as well as airport transfers. "The stunning private residences at the Resort feature expansive indoor and outdoor spaces, with ocean views all around including from the fabulous infinity pools - perfect for unwinding and relaxing with loved ones," insists Hannes Schneider, Resort Manager.

Celebration Unlimited

Kicking of the Easter weekend fun is a magical Movie Night Under the Stars at CoCoRum (March 29, 2024). A perfect way to bring in the holiday mood, this family treat comes complete with hot cocoa and popcorn for the kids. The festive joy continues into Saturday night (March 30, 2024), as the culinary team puts on a show with the Easter Fisherman's Night on the Main Beach. Sizzling roasts from live grilling stations, succulent BBQ, and a spread of desserts are the highlights, accompanied by lively music at water's edge.

"Easter Sunday is the main event," says Schneider, "and a lavish Easter Sunday Brunch at Koh Thai Kitchen is not to be missed as the tables are laden with treats." A selection of the finest Thai and international fare are served up alongside panoramic views of the ocean at this stunning hilltop restaurant. Egg-hunts, bunny feeding, and so much more frolic for the kids make this a special Samui-style Easter for the entire family to enjoy.

Revving Up the Holiday Spirit

"Eid is next on the calendar, and dining is centre-stage," grins Ruslan Shipunov, Executive Chef. Years of experience working in Dubai have honed his flair for Middle Eastern cuisine and flavours, and he is excited to showcase his repertoire this Eid. "But, before Eid celebration, there is Tam Rab Thai, a Thai-style feast at Koh Thai Kitchen on Tuesday, April 9, 2024" he shares. "This exemplary journey through Thailand's rich tapestry of flavours is a great way to taste authentic Thai recipes from all over the country." The rural Thailand street market atmosphere is amplified by wok stations, folk music, and local craft stalls displaying their wares during the meal.

Guests can explore the exotic Levantine cuisine by Shipunov and team with Za'atar Night at the Beach House on April 10, 2024, where an inspired culinary adventure captures the vitality of classical Levantine spice rubs such as za'atar. Eid celebrations come full circle on Thursday night, April 11, 2024 at Main Beach, with a lavish spread of grill and BBQ favourites during this Fisherman's Night dinner buffet. Top-grade steaks, and charcoal grilled seafood set the tone for a night of feasting under the stars, as live jazz music and fire-spinners bring spectacle to the party.

Thai New Year

"The spillover from Eid calls for an extended holiday during the weekend as Songkran and its water-splashing fun is next on the agenda here," smiles Schneider. Guests at Four Seasons Koh Samui can commence their Songkran festivities on April 13, 2024, with traditional alms-giving and water blessings by monks, signifying a fresh spiritual start. The celebration continues with a dynamic parade, hands-on workshops in crafting jasmine garlands and Luk Chup sweets, and vibrant Thai dance shows along the beachfront, encapsulating the rich cultural essence of Thailand's New Year. Each activity is designed to offer an intimate glimpse into Thai culture, ensuring a personalized and inclusive experience. After a day filled with cultural exploration, retreat to the serene luxury of the villa, perhaps unwinding with a Songkran-inspired spa treatment, embodying the perfect blend of festive joy and tranquil relaxation. "Chef de Cuisine Sumalee Khunpet (Chef Jeab) has planned a spectacular Songkran Thai BBQ dinner with all the frills of a Thai extravaganza including folk drummers and fire-spinners on the Main Beach," confirms Shipunov.

"To enhance the Songkran weekend celebration," suggests Schneider, "The culinary team have flavours of Songkran all the way from April 1 to 15, 2024 at Koh Thai Kitchen with the Thai Tapas Pinto and Summer Cocktails to experience." Chef Jeab will also host a wonderful Songkran inspired Southern Thai style dinner with her Special Curries Night from April 1 to 15, 2024 (except Tuesdays) at the recently Michelin Guide 2024-recognized Koh Thai Kitchen.

Time for Self-Care

As Songkran approaches, Four Seasons Koh Samui offers more than exquisite dining; it's a time for rejuvenation and connection. Guests can indulge in a Family Time treatment at The Secret Garden Spa, where the healing properties of locally-sourced Samui coconut oil come to life. This bespoke experience, tailored for families, is designed to foster meaningful connections while embracing the island's natural bounty. Beyond this, the spa's wellness rituals, inspired by Songkran's themes of renewal and purification, offer a holistic retreat for the body and soul, perfectly complementing the festive season. "Feasting and pampering go hand in hand," grins Kotchaphan Mekloy, Director of Spa. The spa has introduced a special Scents of Songkran program that includes a traditional Nam Ob foot bath, followed by 90 minutes of warm compresses and the spa's signature Secret Garden Massage. "It is designed to revitalize and refresh - everything the Thai New Year signifies," she adds.

As much as the Resort's villas spoil one for comfort, guests are encouraged to maximise their time by the beach, with so many active seaside activities on offer. "From kayaking and snorkelling around the reef, to fishing excursions and even private yacht cruises, the Resort boasts a private cove with enough on-shore and off-shore adventure for everyone," smiles Assi. "Come celebrate new beginnings with us - the team will script a memorable experience to truly immerse in Thailand's island life."
