Personal Audio Guide - a New Service for The Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha

Mr. Rattanawut Watcharothai, Director, Public Relations and Promotions, Office of the Royal Household, invitied the media, representatives from government agencies and the tourism industry to visit the Grand Palace and Temple of Emerald Buddha for a demonstration of a modern narrative device-The Personal Audio Guide (PAG). It implements high-tech tour guide concept and is the first of its kind of international standards for the Thai tourism industry.
The Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha are tourist attractions of national historical importance and of international renown. Many dynasties are depicted and is a wealth of educational and historical significance. Thousands of tourists from all over the world visit this tourist attraction daily.
The Office of the Royal Household will provide visitors with the convenience of the PAG through which they can obtain information of the Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha while leisurely exploring this site.
The service was introduced by Khun Rattanawut Watcharothai, Director, Public Relations and Promotions, Office of the Royal Household and will offer 7 languages in the initial phase - French, German, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Mandarin and English. Other languages will be available at a later date when the need arises. This equipment will serve as a convenience for both travel agents and visitors when tour guides for any of the above languages are not readily available.
The PAG is a digital Mini Disc Player together with a map of the complex. The script has been approved by history and archeology experts from the office of the Royal Household. Translation in the different languages has been done by qualified interpreter from the Association International Des Interpretes De Conference (AIIC), renowned and internationally recognised organisation.
