Ms. Kunwadee Jintavorn, Executive Director of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co,. Ltd., the owner of IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center or IMPACT Muang Thong Thani stated since being awarded the ISO50001: 2011 certificatefrom the International Organization for Standardization on September 9, 2011, IMPACT has conducted all business operations according to this energy management standard. IMPACT is the first exhibition venue in Thailand to receive the certification and the second in Asia after India.
IMPACT has created a plan to lower energy use under the theme “I AM 3R.”The letter “I” stands for Incite for promoting an eco-friendly environment, “A” for Avoiding unsustainable methods, material and equipment, “M” for Modifying our behavior, and “3R” for Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
In support of the plan, IMPACT has replaced plastic water bottles with pitchers and glasses in meeting rooms, lowered water consumption by using water from Muang Thong Thani lake for watering trees and replaced manual facets with automatic ones that conserve 25% more water. To reduce fuel consumption, IMPACT provides free shuttle buses for visitors and employees inside IMPACT. IMPACT recently launched a campaign for employees who live near to ride bicycles to work and as the main vehicle for transportation within IMPACT.
As an extension, IMPACT debuted “Ride for Longer Life” on February 29, 2012 to encourage all IMPACT employees to ride bicycles to travel from one building to another. This not only conserves fuel and reduces pollution but also improves health through exercise. A solid turnout of over 100 riders joined the opening ceremony.
To support the campaign, IMPACT has allocated funds to construct bicycles parking lots and lanes. IMPACT envisions expanding “Ride for Longer Life” to other companies under the management of Bangkok Land Co., Ltd. and Muang Thong Thani Society to further decrease traffic and pollution. In the future, Muang Thong Thaniwill be an example of a sustainable community.
IMPACT organizes training workshops to support its energy management initiatives. One past session focused on creating environmentally conscious workers and instilling energy-saving behaviors. Mr. Amornsak Rangsakorn, Director of Energy Management Practical Training Group from Bureau of Energy Human Resource Development, was the main speaker. The goal was to educate employees on energy savings practices and create sustainable behaviors within IMPACT.
