Clear skies are predicted for Malaysia soon as the haze situation improves over the next few days.

The Meteorological Department of Malaysia (MET) has forecast that the haze will clear up from Saturday (10 October) with the start of the monsoon season.

MET Director-General Datuk Che Gayah Ismail said, "With this period and the north-east wind coming after it, the haze condition will improve, as the coming monsoon is expected to bring thunderstorms and strong winds."

"It will take time for conditions to improve, but the smog should clear after October 10 when the northeast wind enters to relieve Malaysia of the haze," Datuk Che Gayah added.

Meanwhile, Deputy Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin noted that there were some tourists who were in Malaysia for their holiday as scheduled, but advised them to reduce outdoor activities while they were here.

She also encouraged tourism operators to carry out more indoor activities and advised tourists to take precautionary measures such as wearing face mask when doing outdoor activities.

Promotion efforts by Tourism Malaysia continue on schedule with the Minister of Tourism and Culture, YB Dato' Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz leading a Malaysian delegation to participate in the EXPOTRAVEL Fair in Yekaterinburg on 8 October. Prior to this, he had launched a Malaysian food promotion at the prestigious Turandot Restaurant in Moscow to introduce and promote Malaysia through the country's rich and multifarious cultures and diverse cuisines.

Tourism Malaysia will continue its promotions at the leading travel trade event in Europe, the World Travel Market in London from 2 to 5 November.

Meanwhile, tourism events in October continue as scheduled with top attractions such as Citrawarna@Kuala Lumpur on 17 October, Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) from 23 to 25 October and International Aborigines Festival 2015 also from 23 to 25 October.
