Jetstar has today announced its Phuket to Melbourne route will be serviced by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner from 9 February 2014.*

The announcement of the newest 787 route closely follows the commencement of Dreamliner services between Phuket and Sydney yesterday.

Jetstar Australia and New Zealand CEO David Hall said the airline now had three 787s operating on international routes.

“We’re delighted to be offering this game changing aircraft on services to some of our most popular long haul leisure destinations,” Mr Hall said.

“Our crew are telling us customers are really impressed by the onboard experience with many commenting on the larger windows and spacious feel in the cabin.

“It’s a testament to the hard work and professionalism of our team that we’ve been able to launch four new 787 routes in the first 50 days of international operations.”

Jetstar will begin offering one weekly return service between Melbourne and Phuket on its 787 from 9 February 2014 before transitioning all three weekly return services to the aircraft type from 30 March 2014.

All three weekly return services between Sydney and Phuket are currently serviced by 787s.

The 787s will be progressively introduced onto Jetstar’s international network, operating to destinations currently served by the airline’s A330s including Singapore, Tokyo, Osaka and Bangkok.*

Delivery of the 787-8s to Jetstar will see its existing A330s transferred to Qantas, following a refit of the cabins. This will then enable the progressive retirement of Qantas’ Boeing 767 fleet by mid-2015.
