ICT Ministry Assigns Three IT Giants to Set Up ICT Operations Center to Show Thailand’s Strong Potential in ICT

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT Ministry) has appointed three leading IT companies — Cisco Systems (Thailand) Ltd., IBM Thailand Co., Ltd., and Sony Thai Co., Ltd. — to set up the “ICT Operations Center” at “Bangkok International ICT Expo 2005: ICT for the Next Generation.” This event aims to showcase Thailand’s ICT progress as well as its potential to be a regional ICT hub in Asian by 2008.
The “ICT Operations Center” will show various capabilities of IP Surveillance solution tailored for consumers and enterprises based on the same IT platform. More importantly, this center will leverage Internet technology for a wider range of applications. Specifically, the building owner — Impact — will install CCTV cameras and leverage IP Surveillance technology as part of its security system to maintain the order of this event. Actually, this center does not mainly aims at showcasing cutting-edge technology; instead, it will demonstrate practical applications under real-life circumstances. On an area of 120 square meters, the command unit of the “ICT Operations Center” will support monitoring for exhibition area, meeting rooms, press center, Cyber Internet zone and business center. Visitors will be allowed to study the operation of this center, with real-time display on plasma screens. Details on hardware and software configurations will be provided as well.
Apart from these three technology sponsors for the “ICT Operations Center” at Bangkok International ICT Expo 2005, TOT Public Company Limited. will supply 250 IP addresses. Meanwhile, CAT Telecom Public Company Limited will provide 10Mbps network for live broadcasting through connection with wireless IP video monitoring cameras from Sony and IBM servers, along with wireless Internet access for meeting attendees at Hall 9 and Hall 10. Cisco will deploy, integrate and support all networking at this event.

For the setting up of the ICT Operations Center, Cisco has provided IP networking technology, including 2 routers, 8 LAN switches, 11 access points and 10 IP phones, to enhance transmissions in the exhibition area, meeting rooms, press center, Cyber Internet zone and business center.
Cisco has also deployed IP Telephony, allowing visitors to request for information from the PR Unit. Furthermore, the company will showcase Wi-Fi technology for connecting various devices such as IP phones, IP cameras and PDAs.
IBM Thailand Co., Ltd.
As a technology partner of Bangkok International ICT Expo 2005, IBM has cooperated with leading IT companies — Cisco and Sony — in providing integrated IP Surveillance solution. IBM has supplied IT infrastructure, including servers and storage with on-demand technology. This will ensure a smooth and secure operation for Bangkok International ICT Expo 2005. In addition, IBM has deployed IBM ThinkCenters and printers at Cyber Lounge, MICT Conference and Registration counter to provide instant access to updated information for Bangkok International ICT Expo 2005. At this event, IBM will also offer IT solutions for SMBs along with personal computing solutions such as notebook computers at discounted prices.
