At 09:30 a.m. today (September 9) Metro Mall Development Company Limited holds the grand opening ceremony for Metro Mall Shopping Center in Sukhumvit Subway Station. The ceremony is inaugurated by Mr. Prapat Chongsanguan, governor of Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA), witnessed by Mr. Plew Trivisvavet, chairman of Bangkok Metro Public Company Limited (BMCL), Dr. Sombat Kitjalaksana, BMCL’s managing director, Mr. Napat Chareonkul, Metro Mall’s managing director, and executives of 22 retail shops.
Metro Mall Shopping Center in Sukhumvit Subway Station, covering a total retail area of 759 sq.m., is the first shopping center opened for service after Metro Mall has been appointed to develop and manage the retail shops for the M.R.T. Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line. There are 22 retail shops in Metro Mall Shopping Center as follows: Convenient Store — 7-Eleven; Banks - Siam Commercial Bank Public Company Limited; IT-Communications — True Coffee and Bliss@tel Shop; Bookstores — Se-ed Shop; Financial Institutions — Easy Buy, Quikcash and KTC Card; Food and Beverage — Auntie Anne’s, Dairy Queen, Nestle, Squeeze, Coffee Today, Chic Shake Bakery and Prantalay; and Others — Salveo Pharmacy Shop; SY Subway for optical and beauty shop, QB House for waterless haircut shop, Dolce’ for beauty fixings shop, Aurora Gold Shop, mm’G Music Shop and Seagull Store.
Mr. Napat says Metro Mall Shopping Center has been designed with special retro style mixed with modern style to inspire the warm and natural atmosphere. The decoration mainly consists of natural materials with brown and natural colors. Metro Mall has taken about one year to construct and decorate the mall to ensure the design, contraction, and decoration meet the international safety standard for subway project.
The company holds the grand opening ceremony with theme of “Retro Celebration” by using angel as symbol of this mall. The performances consist of the “Celebration Retro Fun Fair Parade” led by the Metro Mall angels, body-spelling performers and bozo; and the “Retro Fashion Show” designed by the famous fashion designer who is one of the designers for the “Bangkok Fashion City”. The show is performed by Ms. Rujira Chuaykya (Khem), Ms. Rasami Thongsiripraisri (Lukmee), Ms. Rasri Watcharamek (Organ), Ms. Sarah Marakul Lane, Ms. Odette Henriette Jacqmin, Ms. Suthikarn Wangcharoenthaweekul (Amm), Ms. Atchara Laorengroj (A), Ms. Preeyanut Karu (Isbel), Ms. Patchara Pasuk (Lin) and Ms. Chachada Kananpranont (June).
“From today, Metro Mall Shopping Center in Sukhumvit Subway Station, despite its relatively smallest space, will fulfill the convenience of the commute under the Transportation Mall concept to subway passengers using the service of more than 40,000 trips per day at the station, including commuters to and from Asoke and Sukhumvit roads, as well as local residents,” Mr. Napat says.
Metro Mall, a subsidiary company of BMCL, develops and manages the retail shop business of 524 retail shops, with a total area of 12,720 sq.m. in 11 subway stations: Khlong Toei, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Sukhumvit, Phetchaburi, Phra Ram 9, Thailand Cultural Centre, Ratchadaphisek, Lat Phrao, Phahon Yothin, Chatuchak Park and Kamphang Phet.
