Serious discussions and strategy planning will take place at the 4th annual Travel Professionals of Color (TPOC) Conference and Trade Show to explore how African American Travel Agents and Tour Operators can meet the challenge of earning and retaining business from the burgeoning African American Travel Market.
TPOC, a four year old organization for minority travel professionals, focuses on unifying and mobilizing Travel Professionals of Color. TPOC is proposing to find answers on how to directly impact the bottom line of African American travel businesses and how to successfully promote Multi Cultural and Heritage Tourism on an international level. A major focus will be placed on travel trends within the African American community and other minority groups. These issues will be discussed at the Treasure Island Hotel in Las Vegas May 4 - 7, 2006 during the TPOC 4th annual Conference and Trade Show.
Business leaders, travel industry leaders and leading successful African American and other Minority Travel Agents and Tour Operators will appear as speakers, participate in panel discussions and provide training to ensure travel professionals of color are certified and qualified to service a burgeoning travel community.
Statistics show that African Americans and other Minority groups spend approximately $90 billion annually on travel, resulting in great profits for many travel agents and suppliers; however, TPOC is of the opinion that a very small per cent of African American and other Minority Travel Agents are benefiting from those sales. Major emphasis will be placed on how to re-direct a significant portion of those dollars to African American and other Minority Travel Agents and Suppliers.
