Thailand’s Bond Electronic Exchange (BEX) has listed treasury bills worth THB 100 billion (approx. USD 2.63 billion) issued by Ministry of Finance (MOF), and a further THB 30 billion (approx. USD 789.5 million) bonds issued by Bank of Thailand (BOT), totaling THB 130 billion (approx. USD 3.42 billion). All are scheduled for listing in July and August as detailed below:
1. Fifteen tranches of treasury bills worth THB 100 billion are scheduled for trade as follows:
- TB49/44/28D, TB49/L44/91D, and TB49/L44/182D, totaling THB 20 billion, will commence trading on July 31, 2006.
- TB49/45/28D, TB49/L45/91D, and TB49/L45/182D, totaling THB 20 billion, will commence trading on August 7, 2006.
- TB49/46/28D, TB49/L46/91D, and TB49/L46/182D, totaling THB 20 billion, will commence trading on August 11, 2006.
- TB49/47/28D, TB49/L47/91D, and TB49/L47/182D, totaling THB 20 billion, will commence trading on August 21, 2006.
- TB49/48/28D, TB49/L48/91D, and TB49/L48/182D, totaling THB 20 billion, will commence trading on August 28, 2006.
2. Three tranches of BOT bonds worth THB 30 billion are scheduled for trade as follows:
- BOT49/15/364D worth THB 10 billion has a 364-day maturity, and will commence trading on August 1, 2006, using “CB07802A” as its trading symbol. This issue, which matures on August 2, 2007, does not bear interest as it is a discount bond.
- BOT2549/04/2Y worth THB 10 billion has a 2-year maturity, and will commence trading on August 8, 2006, using “BOT088A” as its trading symbol. Interest will be paid on the 10th of February and August. The issue matures on August 10, 2008.
- BOT49/16/364D worth THB 10 billion has a 364-day maturity, and will commence trading on August 15, 2006, using “CB07816A” as its trading symbol. This issue, which matures on August 16, 2007, does not bear interest as it is a discount bond.
The above 18 issues will boost the value of BEX-listed government bonds to THB 2.76 trillion (approx. USD 72.55 billion), bringing the overall value of bonds listed on the Exchange to THB 3.10 trillion (approx. USD 81.66 billion).
