Shell Thailand’s Chairman said today that this country is a major part of the company’s Asia Pacific region expansion plans and a key long-term strategic element of the company’s global operations.
Tiraphot Vajrabhaya said that Shell has serviced the Thai people for more than a century and will continuing using this country as a critical base to deliver value to all stakeholders.
“Our parent company, The Royal Dutch Shell believes in Thailand’s potential and its role in the company’s strategic expansion plans for Asia,” he said.
Although the retail oil industry’s current returns are currently not acceptable in the long-term, Tiraphot said that Shell enjoys a strong market position and brand acceptance in this country. “We are always looking at effective business solutions to cope with difficult situations,” he said.
As a global company, Tiraphot added that Shell has the ability to optimize its supply clusters by focusing on optimal refining investments and effectively leveraging its supplies and distribution. The company, he said was always looking for good new investment opportunities and innovative energy solutions to generate efficient and profit returns from its downstream businesses.
“We have been in Thailand for more than a hundred years and intend to be serving the Thai people’s energy needs for a long time,” he said.
