THAI and State Railway of Thailand Offer “Ratchaphruek Travelling Pass” to the International Horticultural Exposition for His Majesty the King: Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006, Chiang Mai

Today, (16 October 2006), Mr. Wanchai Sarathulthat, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, Mr. Wallop Bhukkanasut, THAI’s Executive Vice President, Commercial and Mr. Thavil Samnakorn, Acting Governor, State Railway of Thailand, presided over a press conference on “Ratchaphruek Travelling Pass” promotional campaign by THAI and State Railway of Thailand.
Mr. Wanchai Sarathulthat, THAI’s Chairman said that THAI is proud to have been selected as the official carrier of the International Horticultural Exposition for His Majesty the King: Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006, during 1 November 2006 to 31 January 2007, in Chiang Mai. The event will be held to celebrate the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne and the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary 5th December 2007. THAI and State Railway of Thailand are the major transport organizations of Thailand. Therefore, the cooperation provides a good opportunity and another choice of travel to the general public.
Mr. Wallop Bhukkanasut, THAI’s Executive Vice President, Commercial, said that on the auspicious occasion, THAI and State Railway of Thailand join together to do promotional campaign “Ratchaphruek Travelling Pass” offering a special transportation rate on the route Bangkok — Chiang Mai v.v. THAI’s Catering Department also provides passengers traveling by rail free meal box during the promotional period.
“Ratchaphruek Travelling Pass” provides the general public with more convenient way to travel from Bangkok to Chiang Mai with terms and conditions as follows:
The special package includes one air ticket and one rail ticket from Bangkok to Chiang Mai where passengers will have an opportunity to select to travel to Chiang Mai either by air or rail and use the remaining ticket on the way back to Bangkok.
The 3,300 baht package will be available from 19 October 2006 onwards at any THAI’s ticket office; Silom and Lan Luang and at the Flora Miracle, 7th floor, Central Chidlom.
The package is valid from 1 November 2006 — 31 January 2007.
“Ratchaphruek Travelling Pass” air tickets are available on Tuesdays — Thursdays only.
Furthermore, THAI’s Catering Department also provides free meal box for passengers traveling by rail with “Ratchaphruek Travelling Pass” with details as follows:
Dinner and Breakfast on the route Bangkok — Chiang Mai. Railway departs Bangkok at 17.45 hrs. and arrives Chiang Mai at 07.05 hrs.
Snacks and Breakfast on the route Chiang Mai — Bangkok. Railway departs Chiang Mai at 22.00 hrs. and arrives Bangkok at 12.00 hrs.
THAI also organizes a “Thai Pavilion” booth at the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 offering visitors with special menus and products from Thaishop.
In addition, THAI has participated in arranging the exposition through the honor of serving as the official carrier for Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006, which includes facilitating guests visiting the exhibition:
- Support of the exhibit “The Thai Garden for the King” as part of the exposition at the amount of 1 million baht.
- Air ticket at special rates on domestic and international routes for members of the working group and press.
- Special cargo shipment rates for exhibitors, for transport of equipment used in exhibitions from overseas.
- Arrangement of Eaurng Luang package tours to Chiang Mai , including visit to the exposition and offer airport transfer, featuring 2 days, 1 night stay at 5,650 baht
- Air ticket including tax and other charges at special rate for public:
- From Southern destinations including Phuket, Hat Yai, Surat Thani and Krabi, to Chiang Mai.
- From Eastern destinations including Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchathani to Chiang Mai.
- Special package of THAI Value Cards offered the special price of THB 4,000 per card, in addition to ticket to view the exposition free-of-charge for card holders visiting from Mondays to Thursdays only.
Adjustment of the Winter Schedule to facilitate tourists, as follows:
- Increased flight frequencies to Chiang Mai at 72-75 flights per month (from formerly 63 flights per month or 9 flights per day)
- Aircraft rotation to larger aircraft types
- Publicize the exposition worldwide, in all destinations operated by THAI, in order to invite tourists to travel to Thailand. Featured various editorials about the exposition in Kinnaree and Sawasdee inflight magazines.
