Music Fashion — Add a little tune to your jeanswear

Thursday 25 June 2009 10:56
Following the so-called ‘Music Fashion’ trend, jeans have become a variety of tunes; the symbol of ‘rock music’ that never dies, ‘pop music’ which would drive you straight into the core of all emotions, ‘hip hop’ that possesses its own style without breaking the line, and ‘independent music’ which of course, brings about the I’m-not-the-trend-follower vibes. Jeans have become instruments, singing melodies that will introduce you to every individual’s sense of style.

Mr. Ponsinh Boutkaska, Marketing Manager of Fashion Apparel Division at Diethelm Limited, the Thai distributor of Levi’s? jeanswear, mentions ‘Music Fashion’ as being the mirror of music styles. ‘Music Fashion’ is expressed widely through denim, be it denim shirts or denim jeans. The reason behind using denim would be that, not only does it allow in-tune movement, it is also very comfortable to wear. Denim jeans come in a variety of cuts and styles, ranging from straight-leg, skinny, to flare jeans, each and every style is unique and clearly symbolizes each genre of music. Experimenting with new colors whilst playing around with different accessories would further bring out the mentioned symbolism.

Rock… the music that never dies

The legendary ‘Rock Music’ has its very own characteristic. Matching denim jeans with a grey, black, blue, or brown tee, along with a simple denim jacket, a leather belt with oversized buckle, and leather wristbands would give you the rocker look. But if you seek a ‘hotter’ version of the classic rocker look, trade the tee for a simple tank top or singlet and match them with silver/metallic accessories. A silver chain dangling from belt to jeans pocket along with a pair of tapered toe leather shoes would also compliment the look.

Indie music… the idol of individuality

Those deliberately seeking their independent style out of the mainstream fashion trends have now themselves become the trendsetters. Putting on a fitted tee with cool screened patterns or a plain one with skinny jeans with deliberately folded over legs, a hat, and an oversized bag would bring out the vibes. Get a little accessorized with a couple of rings, a plain belt and patterned sneakers or plain leather shoes, and voila!

Pop…the music of both poignancy and glee

Music along the ‘Pop’ genre would forever be in the melody market. The easy going music collaborates with a simple jacket over tartan or striped tops. Matching those with skinny jeans, whether it be plain, or bleached blue, black, or grey and some white, tapered toe sneakers would do the job. Another option could be a black or off-white casual blazer over a plain tee, matched with the same bottom overalls.

Step-dance, the rhythm that never stops

Dance enthusiasts should pick out sports-inspired outfits that compliment their movement and body shape. Choosing a plain round- or v-neck tee of colors like red, black, grey or blue, or simultaneously, a screened tee, with low-cut jeans along with a bright colored jacket would bring out the so-called dancer look. Footwear should be quite sporty in order to support the ‘moves’. To add on a little bit more glitz and glam, accessorize with colored headbands and wristbands, and also a sporty bag.

Hip-hop… breaking, without breaking out of line

The most notable characteristic of hip-hop fashion would be oversized, graffiti printed tees, along with big denim jeans. Giant sneakers and sporty headwear such as hats and caps are also hip hop inspired. Nevertheless, don’t forget your ‘Bling’! Golden necklaces and oversized bracelets would bring out the breaker vibes.

Once the process of putting a tune to your outfit is completed, it is officially the time to rock n’ roll!
