Today, 11 August 2010, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) has finalized the purchase agreement with Airbus for seven A330-300 aircraft, confirming a commitment announced at last months’ Farnborough Air Show.

Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand, THAI President, today signed the purchase agreement for the order of seven A330-300 aircraft from Airbus for delivery starting at the end of 2011. The newly ordered aircraft will join an existing fleet of 20 A330-300s at THAI.

Today’s signing ceremony is a follow up from the February 2010 THAI Board’s approval and resolution of the THAI’s aircraft acquisition plan for 2010-2014, which consisted of acquiring an additional 15 aircraft (to the previous order of eight A330-300 and six A380 between 2010-2013). The February Board had also approved the 15 aircraft types to be ordered:

- Seven A330-300 regional aircraft (through financial lease), and

- Eight B777-300ER intercontinental aircraft (through operating lease)

These seven A330-300 aircraft, each equipped with 300 seats, will be delivered from the end of 2011 and will enhance the company’s fleet and serve customer needs on regional routes such as Perth and Dubai. These new aircraft will ensure growth of THAI’s regional network and maximize its market potential.
