FIVE STAR DIVING COMES TO KOH PHI PHI AS ZEAVOLA SECURES PRESTIGIOUS PADI CREDENTIALS, OFFERS 'DEEP AND LONG' MARINE EXPERIENCES

Koh Phi Phi's leading, most loved and unique luxury boutique resort Zeavola is set to become one of Thailand's top dive destinations with its new elite PADI Five Star diving credentials.

Zeavola, one of the region's pioneering eco and luxury diving resorts, is one of a few select properties in the world to secure PADI's most prestigious appellation, which General Manager Florian Hallermann said took special focus to achieve.

The award-winning Zeavola resort perches atop the sparkling sands, verdant slopes and pristine waters of Koh Phi Phi Don's northern tip at Laem Ton, promising guests a step back into simplicity and an unforgettable journey of relaxation, romance and discovery.

Zeavola's 'Deep and Long Weekend Dive Experience', available from April 1st to October 31st, 2013, offers guests three nights of natural luxury, a refresher dive and four boat dives, over a long weekend, arriving on Friday and leaving Monday.

"Koh Phi Phi is poised to go to a new level as a luxury diving destination and Zeavola will be at the vanguard. We have a great story to tell about how we pay more than lip service to the environment, especially through our Coral Freedom Project, and are excited to introduce our Zeavolian dive experience to divers from around Asia and the rest of the world."

Mr Hallermann said Zeavola offered its own dive boats, five star dining, service and amenities, the island's most unique spa, a really romantic, 'back to nature' ambience and an absolute beachfront location on one of Thailand's most beautiful islands.

Situated within the Phi Phi Marine National Park, a wide variety of dive sites including the excellent Bida Islands are less than 20 minutes away. "With such a wide range of options it's possible to create custom designed dive excursions,'' he said. "Our expert, experienced team use their local knowledge of tides, boat traffic and weather conditions to create solutions to meet every guest's personal goals. Dive sites ranging from 8-30 metres deep provide a mixture of topographies from sandy bays to coral wonderlands and dynamic rocky playgrounds ensuring divers a multitude of quality diving experiences.

"Imagine 20m deep walls and pinnacles covered in soft coral of every possible colour," Mr Hallermann said. "Pristine hard coral reefs fringe the coast, and when you least expect it, there will be a 2m-long leopard shark sleeping in the sand right in front of you or a blacktip reef shark zooming past!

"One guest and a frequent visitor to Phi Phi Island told me recently that he had been diving here for 13 years and continued to find things he'd never seen before. In the open blue guests might encounter schooling Trevally and other pelagic fish. Sightings of seahorses, ghost pipefish, colourful Nudibranchs, squat lobsters, spider crabs, and even frogfish are not uncommon."

Mr Hallermann said Zeavola's Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) is a 4-hour programme with a PADI Instructor by your side all the time, first introducing you to the basics of diving knowledge, skills and equipment, then taking you to experience the beauty of a tropical coral reef.

For those wanting an extra challenge, Zeavola offers a Scuba Diver course (2 days) or Open Water Diver course (4 days). All dives are guided by PADI Dive-instructors and use custom built speedboats, or longtail boats, in small groups of a maximum of eight divers with well maintained Scubapro BCDs and regulators.

Mr Hallermann takes the resort's commitment to 'barefoot luxury' seriously and he encourages guests to come to dinner without shoes, as he does, to enjoy the al fresco delights of toes-in-the-sand dining. "This is why we have so many loyal, repeat customers," he said. "They try elsewhere but they always come back to Zeavola, because it is one of the most chilled and relaxing places you could hope to find."
