The internationality of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) coupled with the strong China-network of Panyapiwat Institute of Management (PIM) can be mutually beneficial to both Institutes. Stating this during his visit to PIM on 25 June 2014, AIT’s Interim President Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai said that since China and India are emphasizing human resource development, this augurs well both for AIT and Thailand.

Prof. Worsak remarked that while AIT engages in capacity building in the Asian region, at the same time this can help Thailand emerge as a hub of international education. “AIT and PIM, along with Charoen Pokphand Group (CP) can focus on international business, agri-business and engineering,” Prof. Worsak said.

PIM President Dr. Sompop Manarangsan, while welcoming the AIT delegation, said that AIT is recognized for its research orientation and postgraduate studies. “PIM graduates who wish to continue with higher studies can enrol at AIT,” she suggested.

Dr. Usanee Kulintornprasert, Deputy Director, Office of International Relations, PIM, stated that PIM is a higher education institute under CP All PLC, and it specializes in education and research in the field of wholesale business. It follows the work-based education model, and students in Bachelor-degree programs engage in paid work every semester. Since 7-Eleven shops are being opened at the rate of three shops every two days to meet the target of 10,000 branches, PIM needs to produce more graduates, he added.

Joining the PIM President in welcoming the AIT delegation were Dr. Paritud Bhandhubanyong, Executive Director (Office of President) of Education and Special Project Development (Automotive Manufacturing Engineering); Dr. Sriprai Sakrungpongsakul, Dean of Faculty of Business Administration; Dr. Datchakorn Tancharoen, Vice Dean and Director Innovation Center, Faculty of Engineering and Technology; Dr. Waraporn Klinbun, Lecturer of Education and Special Project Development (Automotive Manufacturing Engineering); and Mr. Sitthichok Sitthiracha, Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

Prof. Worsak led an AIT delegation which included Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, Vice President for Resource Development; Prof. Gabor Louis Hornyak, Director of Center of Excellence in Nanotechnology; Mrs. Wannapa Pliensri, Coordinator, Royal Thai Government Relations; and Ms. Natnipha Vimuktanon, Media Officer (Public Relations).
