The occurrence of natural calamities, whether floods, storms, extreme weather, drought, and earthquakes seems to have escalated in recent years. Realizing the hardship faced by people experiencing these catastrophes, Siam Commercial Bank established a policy of providing relief to disaster victims, both local and overseas, on a continuous basis. In Thailand, the Bank has provided disaster victims with both urgent relief support and long-term rehabilitation aid, including the delivery of survival bags and other necessities through area offices and provincial branches in locations where natural disasters tend to break out annually, including Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Sawan, Ubon Ratchathani, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chumporn, Surat Thani, and Songkla.

The ongoing severe flooding in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has caused an incalculable loss of lives and property to the citizens of Myanmar. In an initial response, SCB, represented by the Bank's Chairman of the Executive Committee Dr. Vichit Suraphongchai, jointly donated US$ 100,000 or around 120 million Kyat in relief support funds to Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar Mrs. Daw Khin Saw Oo. The donations will go to the Fund for the Relief for Flood Victims in Myanmar managed by the Ministry of Social Welfare Relief and Resettlement.

On this occasion, SCB would like to invite clients, employees and members of the public to participate in donating to help Myanmar flood victims through account No. 111-3-90911-5 under the name of "Siam Commercial Foundation-SCB Relief for Natural Disaster Victims. Donations will be free of inter-region charges via any SCB branch or SCB ATM nationwide. The Bank will gather the donations and deliver them to the Thai Red Cross Society so that they will be forwarded to the Myanmar Red Cross for urgent relief purposes. Donations can be made from now on. Donors requiring receipts for tax rebate purposes can send copies of their money transfer, name, address, and phone number to Fax No. 02-544-1040 or email: helpmyanmar@ scb.co.th.
