Mitsubishi Motors Thailand meet with Prime Minister and Economics minister team

Yesterday (October 26, 2015), Mitsubishi Motors Thailand ("MMTh") met with the Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-o-cha and his Economics Minister Team at the Government House in response of an official invitation of the Royal Thai Government to exchange views on economy and investment.

Mr. Morikazu Chokki, the president & CEO of MMTh revealed some key exchanged views on economy and investment after the meeting with Thai government that MMTh shall continue its full commitment to Thailand because of the strong supports of Thai government that continuously provided to the Thai automotive industry.

"MMTh has been established here with full commitment to Thailand over 50 years where the total investment of 35 Billion THB has been placed after the establishment of the 3rd factory in Laem Chabang in 2011 until present which made MMTh became one of the most important overseas operations of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation ("MMC"). We sincerely thank to the continuous supports of Thai government to the Thai automotive industry", stated by Mr. Chokki.

On the economics view points, Mr. Chokki emphasized the importance of restoration of consumer confidence in order to stimulate the domestic demand. Expansion of Soft Loan for SME shall be considered to enhance purchasing power of pick-up for business usage of agricultural sector including SMEs. With regard to export business, those existing non-tariff barriers on vehicle exportation among some ASEAN countries needed to be taken into account after the commencement of AEC in 2016.

"The pickup segment is still extremely important, because of its strong demand in many emerging markets. The policy direction of Thai government to promote the pickup including PPV as Thailand product champion is the right vision. Thai government shall consider continue support on pick-up in parallel with enhancement of other future higher sophisticated products", added by Mr. Chokki.
