Recently Siam Makro Public Company Limited, operator of Makro Trade Centres, Makro Auto Care Service Centres (MAX) and Makro Office Centres in Thailand, today announced that it expects to complete the construction of the new branch at Charansanitwongse 37 in February 1999. The new branch is being constructed at a cost of Bht. 960 million. “The Charansanitwongse 37 Pak Soi Wat Plangwipasana site has been chosen because it is located on a major road easily accessible to our target customers living in Pomprab, Talingchan, Taweewatana, Pranakorn, Bangkokyai, Bangkoknoi and Bangplad districts,” said Mr. Arnold Tobac, president of Siam Makro. In addition to a Makro Trade Centre, and a MAX Auto Express, the company will construct a retail development to be called “Makro Community Centre”. The two-storey complex will comprise restaurants, retail outlets and offices next to Makro. “At Makro Community Centre, families will be able to enjoy activities together such as dining and learning new skills at schools offering computer and language courses. Other services such as photo processing, VDO rentals and banking will also be available,” added Mr. Arnold Tobac. The investment for Charansanitwongse 37 branch totals Bht. 960 million inclusive of land and construction costs of the buildings and a covered car park for 850 vehicles. Construction of the 30,000 sqm. Makro Trade Centre, the Makro Community Centre and the Max Auto Express will be completed in February 1999.
Siam Makro currently operates 16 stores around Thailand with approximately 170,00 sqm. of selling space. Five stores are in Bangkok and 11 are upcountry. The company has expanded to include Makro Auto Care Co., Ltd., with 33 MAX Auto Express Centres, 25 Car Wash Centres and 13 Shell gas stations and Makro Office Centre with six branches.
