Embrace Tradition with Cooling "Khao Chae" at Spice Market, Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel 15 March - 15 May 2021

Wednesday 10 March 2021 13:00
Famous for its cooling properties and historical significance, khao chae is ubiquitous in Thailand during the hottest months of the year. The fragrant jasmine rice dish with a royal pedigree is served cold with a variety of nutritious condiments, paying as much attention to the presentation as you do to the flavours.

Literally meaning "rice soaked in cool water" khao chae gained popularity around the time of King Rama II, quickly becoming a hot season staple in Thailand. This year, from 15 March to 15 May, celebrate the arrival of the Songkran season at Spice Market at Anantara Siam Bangkok where this spring favourite will be served in full compliance with tradition. Or order for take-away to recreate the experience at home.

The delicious set includes steamed rice soaked in cool jasmine-scented water; Kapi Song Krueng - deep-fried shrimp paste balls; Hua Pak Kard Warn - sweet dried turnip; Hom Sod Sai - deep-fried shallots with shredded pork; Pla Yie Son - sweet shredded fish; Prig Yuak Sod Sai - steamed green chili stuffed with minced pork wrapped in egg net; and Moo Foi Warn - sweet shredded pork.

The dish is available at Spice Market from 15 March to 15 May 2021, 11.30 am - 2.30 pm (except Sunday - Tuesday). Priced at THB 580++ per set for dining in and THB 780+ per set for take-away (food only).
