Sea turtles are among the most interesting and beautiful members of our marine ecosystem. They have been in existence for millions of years, gracefully swimming in Thailand's oceans through the many stages of their lives as they forage, migrate, nest and breed.

An enthusiastic team of volunteers from AXA Thailand General Insurance visited the Royal Thai Navy's Sea Turtles Conservation Center in Sattahip, Chonburi, to learn about the life of sea turtles, the threats they are exposed to, and the different ways of ensuring their survival.

"Our company is proud to support the Center. Participants gained new knowledge and had fun with the activities from cleaning the pond and the beach before releasing the turtles to the sea," said Ms. Paweena Khemarangsan, Chief Customer Officer, AXA Thailand General Insurance. "The aim of this activity was to contribute to preserving the environment and marine ecosystem. AXA is fully committed to combatting climate change, in line with its mission."

The AXA team received a warm welcome from Lt. Manomai Thummanee, Deputy Chief, Academic Affairs and Public Relations Subdivision, who guided them on a tour of the Center where they learned the sea turtles' role as part of the marine ecosystem, their behavior, and the importance of protecting their natural habitat. They also viewed an exhibit on the life cycle of the turtles and visited the nursery ponds where hatchlings are nurtured before releasing them to the sea.

The AXA team participated in various activities from the cleaning of the turtle pond to scrubbing the turtles' shell. The most heartwarming moment was when it was time to release them to the sea. The volunteers also collected garbage and debris that could pollute the sea and endanger sea turtles and other marine life. The visit to the Royal Navy Sea Turtle Conservation Center enabled all participants to gain knowledge so they can act responsibly and conscientiously for the preservation of nature and the environment. The company also made a charitable contribution to the Center to support sustainable marine conservation.

For the past years, AXA Thailand General Insurance has been organizing hands-on activities and awareness programs that promote social responsibility among employees, stakeholders and the public. AXA's core purpose is to act for human progress by protecting what matters.
